Re: Using sprint Touch pro 2 in different country

I thought you can just buy a prepaid SIM card when you are in other country and put it in your TP2 and it should work.

Can anyone confirm?

That's what Sprint said, as long as you are not in the States, the GSM will work.

I will test it in two weeks, going to China with a China Telecom Prepaid SIM.

Steved, I also eagerly and keenly await your experiment result with the SIM card in China, as I really want to get a Sprint TP2 for use with Vodafone Australia.

railslave:

Let me be honest to you, those things doesn't exist lol. They looks good on the packaging but as soon as you open it up, it's nothing but an empty shell with just the USB plug and an empty gut.

They do that to foreigners, trust me, I'm native Chinese so yeah... trust me on this one lol.

As for the International traveling, I thought I posted it somewhere regarding this subject matter... oh yes, here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=88356

Re: Using sprint Touch pro 2 in different country

So has anyone really/actually take their TP2 oversea yet and put in a local SIM and it works?

Is it true this phone also doesnt support international 3g? Is 3g like EVDO Rev A ? Higher speed? So this phone doesnt support high speed internet?

Re: Using sprint Touch pro 2 in different country

i'm currently using Sprint TP2 in GSM mode with Vodafone in Australia and it works, data access in HSDPA mode is about 500kBps download. in Settings/personal/Security it shows 'your phone is SIM unlocked'.

Re: Using sprint Touch pro 2 in different country

So you can buy a oversea SIM card with some data package like 2 MB and you can tether to your laptop and get some high speed internet?

Re: Using sprint Touch pro 2 in different country

yes the phone works with the voda SIM card, outside USA and as long as the network provides data service you will be able to tether you laptop to internet, i did it via bluetooth. first you pair them up then from the TP2, program/internet sharing, click connect then you should have a new network connection, DHCP assigned by your phone, and gateway will be your phone, whose ip address is 192.168.0.1
