Re: Touch Pro 2 FM Radio Questions/Answers
This might sound dumb, but why does everyone keep saying "the GSM version" or the "CDMA version" the TP2 is a WORLD BAND phone, meaning it has BOTH GSM and CDMA, or did some people get a totally different version? i have verizons version of the TP2.

Re: Touch Pro 2 FM Radio Questions/Answers
verizons version is what verizon calls a world phone, and has dual radios. Sprints version is also a "world phone". Both are primarily CDMA phones and do not pick up Att's 3g signal because it doesn't pick up ATT's 3g band, but they can pick up Att's edge band.
ATT's tilt 2 and TMo's TP2 do not have a CDMA radio and are GSM only. |

Re: Touch Pro 2 FM Radio Questions/Answers
Silly question but if this works does that mean TMC will a GPS program would work as well?
And an even sillier question; would my phone be able to TRANSMIT radio signals? Meaning I can set it to 88.1 and listen to my phone in my car on that station? |

Although some of the FM/BT modules do include FM transmit functionality, I'm not sure that the one in the TP2 does. Even in devices where the chip technically supports broadcast though, I don't think I've ever seen one hacked to enable that capability. |

Re: Touch Pro 2 FM Radio Questions/Answers
There is TMC broadcasting in the US. Pretty decent coverage around major cities (i.e. Chicago), although not as good as in Europe.

Re: Touch Pro 2 FM Radio Questions/Answers
Unlike Europe they charge for TMC in the USA. It's pretty cheap though; $50 for a lifetime (or $7 a month...who would choose that one??). I'd say it's been around for maybe 4 or 5 years?

Re: Touch Pro 2 FM Radio Questions/Answers
For several years, at least. I got my old GPS with lifetime traffic subscription about 3 years ago, and it has already been around for a while.
In most of Europe, I believe, they have free TMC service (rather basic) and premium subscription TMC that has more coverage and detail. In the US, it is all paid, but not too expensive. |
