Im putting my money on the theory that the FM Receiver is in fact in our devices, I have not directly "seen" it using various observation methods, however I do know that when a bootloader/spl is written, there are options of what gets started and what does'nt through code. I am waiting on my development board/ tools to come in and I will start trying to get something working, hopefully the HSPL will be release by then and I'll be able to delve a bit deeper. Now the imagio does in fact have FM radio and it's CDMA, I looked through the signed_spl and there are calls made to the FM receiver to initialize it. So I think our device just needs the "chip"=BCM4325's FM reciever/router turned on at boot time in order for the OS to see it.
It's like this, many computer techies and non techies know, that if a bios cannot see a hard drive then the OS cant see it as well, there are exceptions to that however most of the time those are "special" bios's that allow it to happen. For the most part though if the most basic part of the devices cant see something, then the rest of the OS cannot as well or has problems communicating with it.
