Re: HTC Touch Pro2 for Sprint in June

great review of the TP2 .. non sprint version...

unboxing video and all

http://pocketnow.com/index.php?a=por...ws&id=1139&p=1

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kz4TKMypIg4

selling for :
UKĀ£ 439 = 719.0381 U.S. dollars

i attached some pics of the sprint version that i found floating around.. so u can see some of the color changes that sprint made

i personally wish they didnt change the back cover and keys to orange and just kept it like the GSM version

.. i also think the title should be changed to July. per the road mao and more news floating around the TP2 will be released in the 3rd quarter..
which is July/August/September...

so as of now its a guess to which exact month it will be released...
Sprint is releasing the palm pre on june 6th adn the HTC snap on the 7th.. i think they are done for the month of June

Just curious what the difference is between a capacitive screen and resistive screen...and does anyone know if the sprint version will have the camera on the front?

When you touch the screen, the circuitry detects the presence of your finger. It keeps track of how many fingers you have on the screen and where you move them-> capacitive

here is more info on resistive

TP2 cdma version looses the video calling.. camera on front
and is also said to loose the flashlight that was on the TP... which sucks !

Although it pretty much has the same hardware, the software optimization looks nice. Very smooth. I can do without that crappy D-pad. I only used the flash like once or twice.

no point to have front-facing cameras on CDMA phones since no CDMA service currently supports simultaneous voice+data... so "picturephone" is not possible on CDMA currently, unlike GSM...

resistive is less sensitive than capacitive, but much more precise and also works in greater temperature extremes and with a stylus or gloves. so resistive has distinct advantages over capacitive. WM as it is is not well suited to capacitive.

In addition to what itouch24 said the capacitive touch screen only respond to the human finger, where resistive touch screen can use both stylus and finger (well anything that come in contact with the screen, hence while your phone is in your pocket it call someone & capacitive that won't happen)..... knowing this the capacitive touch screens are much more responsive than it resistive counterpart!

CDMA may not, EVDO and WiFi certainly do. That said I tried a video conference app for my TP2 and am pretty unimpressed. I'm just hoping skype jumps on board at some point.

well, EVDO is cdma. what we all mean by simultaneous voice and data, is voice as in regular phone calls, not VOIP over the data connection.

the dark side gets around this by using gsm for voice and 3g(cdma) for data, so essentially they cheat.

don't know why you call it cheating... and EVDO Rev A *is* capable of doing simultaneous voice+data, if our beloved carriers would only see fit to implement it...

and customers don't care about "cheating", they just want to know: Can I talk on my phone, making calls in the "normal way", and surfing the web at the same time, or see who I'm talking to at the same time...

So just how big a deal would it be for Sprint/Verizon to start implementing voice+data simultaneous?
