Re: Would someone recommend a wired earpiece to fit the TP2?
your probably best off finding a good one with a standard phono plug. I think a 3.5mm one works in that jack, but otherwise get a 2.5mm and an adapter from the tp1 or titan(mogul) (i'm sure I or another geek have some laying around)
plantronics and jabra have always made good ones, but there's no guarantee that the ground wire to the headset won't carry the antenna signal. best is speakerphone a few feet away from head.. but I digress we're all doomed if it is bad for us. reread your post and it's possible that the jack in the phone is causing your poor experience, again an adapter to the mini-extusb jack might work better.

Thanks shaggylive for posting.
I wasn't aware that the mini usb could also be used for a earphone/mic. |

Re: Would someone recommend a wired earpiece to fit the TP2?
yea u can find good mini USB headsets at great prices, these offer better sound than those that connect to the 3.5mm jack as it is a digital connection vs the analog connection. now some headsets that plug into the 3.5mm jack have DSPs built into them which convert the sound back to digital, examples of these are beats by dre, Bose, other sets of audiophile headphones and the headsets that HTC bundles with their newer phones. if u dont want to pay $150+ for those headphones then ur only other 2 options for digital audio are the mini USB headsets and the BT headsets (there are even some that don't have the transmitter "by ur head")

phono plugs have always been poor connections, but at least with the 1/4" you have room to fix them and physical surface area is greater. |

Re: Would someone recommend a wired earpiece to fit the TP2?
I'm pretty sure that usb is digital which means that the headphone/mic has to have a built in DAC (digital to analog converter) to change the signal back to analog as earphones and mics start are analog devices based on sound pressure. This might be where the better quality comes in as they can use better DACs.

Re: Would someone recommend a wired earpiece to fit the TP2?
yes there are digital usb headphones/heasets for the pc, but for these phones it's just analog. trust me I've custom wired enough adapters. with the tp1&2 the mic wire doubles as the composite video out.
