your probably best off finding a good one with a standard phono plug. I think a 3.5mm one works in that jack, but otherwise get a 2.5mm and an adapter from the tp1 or titan(mogul) (i'm sure I or another geek have some laying around)
plantronics and jabra have always made good ones, but there's no guarantee that the ground wire to the headset won't carry the antenna signal. best is speakerphone a few feet away from head.. but I digress we're all doomed if it is bad for us.

reread your post and it's possible that the jack in the phone is causing your poor experience, again an adapter to the mini-extusb jack might work better.
