Need recommendations for custom rom

i've been using my TP2 with the sprint stock wm 6.5 along with CHT 2.0 for the last 2 weeks. For the most part, i've been happy with it. It has not crashed or frozen on me unlike my old mogul. The main issue i have is that sometimes i have to hit a button a few times before it responds. Also, with CHT installed, and on my home screen, whenever i open the keyboard, it takes 25 seconds to switch to landscape mode!

Will a custom rom fix these 2 issues? Will CHT run much faster on a custom rom?

Is there a summary of all the differences between the custom roms?
Each custom rom has a 500 page thread!

which are the most popular ones?

It is a bit overwhelming!! I just loaded up the Sharkie405 v5.1 and it is really slick. You can make it super light if you want, or leave it full featured. Switches to landscape immediately when opening the keyboard!

2nd to say Sharkie's rom 6.5.X from the first page thread on CDMA Development - works so much better than the 6.5 WM Sharkie version for me - I am really enjoying it after recently re-flashing to that one. I uninstalled Cookie Home Tab and it's CHT editor counterpart from the remove programs menu and speed dramatically improved. Battery and wifi work great -

I am on Sprint and all the sprint features work fine and also loaded up skype via wifi and that actually worked super.

well for 6.5 ill recommend THIS ROM hasn't given me any problems when I used it in the final 2 weeks i had my tp2 before my arrive, plus u can combine it with the tweaks in this thread to make it better. same for any other 6.5 rom as well. I also wouldn't recommend CHT as it is very CPU and RAM intensive as it was originally designed for the HD2 which has twice the power of the tp2. besides that 6.1 can't be beat as far as reliability and stability.

will sharky's rom with CHT installed still switch to landscape mode quickly?
(when i unistall CHT from sprint stock rom 6.5, it does switch quickly)

I really like CHT for giving me more places to put links and the extra on/off buttons it provides (turn wifi on/off, bluetooth on/off, etc...). It would be hard to live without it once you've tried it!
