Most people today are still replacing parts in the new SYS with COM5 parts to make the phone canvas work and have incoming caller id work as it should.

I have no idea if Vin has it in his ROM, but if he does...it's only because he's replaced part of the SYS he is using with parts from a 235xx build. Some of you may benefit from reading this post.

OP, you'll have to find a ROM using COM5 or parts from COM5 for threaded email in Outlook.
So is there anyway to add the threaded/preview email to a 6.5.3 rom without flashing? I would really be interested in that!

You probably can. You will need to find the info in the threads I list below since I do not know it and you'll have to use recmod to convert any modules (they look like folders) to files before you can replace them in /windows on your phone. I don't know if there are any registry entries, but you can open the .rgu's in the packages you take from 23563/23569 with any text editor and compare them to what you've got now.

Re: What ROM should I choose? Newbie

Thanks everyone for all the advice! I flashed to the Plutonium ROM from 12-29-10 and then I used the Everal threaded email fix and it worked! This is by far the fastest, most stable ROM that I've used so far. It's the only aftermarket ROM that I've used that you can put the "SlideWakeup" key in to stop it from unlocking when it's in a magnetic holster. I'm not fond of the icons, but nothing a little reg-editing can't fix!

Thanks again!

Here's what I would suggest...MAKE YOUR OWN ROM !

www.ppckitchen.org

Great site, great app and download the build you want, it's not that hard.

This key will enable or disable slide to wakeup. 0 to disable, and 1 to enable, and can be used with any ROM.

Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD]
"SlideWakeup"=dword:00000001
In my opinion, there no such thing as best ROM. ROM is performance is based on what the user use their phone for, and what the users taste is. It varies from person to person.

Re: What ROM should I choose? Newbie

Vins roms were the most stable 6.5 roms I've used. As far as overall stability nothing beat the stock 6.1 or sprint basics rom.

The code does not work on the energy rom nor on the Sharkie rom. Both of them had the the SlideWakeup in there already, but neither would work with the holster.
