Re: Is it me or does the htc pro 2 just suck?
I think it's just you, but it depends on what you're comparing it to. Compare it to the phones that are out now and yes in almost all cases. Compare it to the phones that were available when it was released, and it was the best device available.

rare, lockups are rare for me... and Im not even OC'd in winMO.. nor do i use an alternate start menu... If the TP2 did in fact really suck, there wouldnt be the surplus of users a year and a half later like there still is... People wouldve went back to their previous device or jumped to anything to get away from it... yet, thats not what happened.. TP2 definitely DOESNT suck!

Re: Is it me or does the htc pro 2 just suck?
too many things have been piled into that little cpu. without manila/sense these phones fly. although I kinda agree. the tp2 does suck that it doesn't have a d-pad, ctrl button, or flash light. I just went back to my tp1 so my bro didn't waste money on an evo.

OP... You left the door wide open bro... LOL.
I don't personally know you... So I can't tell if you suck or not. However... I do own a TP2 and my wife does too. It doesn't suck. But it does have it's limits. I hard reset my phone every few months. It just can't handle all we want it to do. It can do alot... But it's limitations become obvious very quickly. p. |

Re: Is it me or does the htc pro 2 just suck?
For all my threads on moving to an Android phone, I still have my TP2, active on Boost. It's been on Boost for about 5 months now.
I run the stock Sprint 6.1 ROM (since I hate 6.5's Start menu and relocated/reshaped soft buttons) and also, because I've heard that 6.5 has various issues with stability. My ROM still has Sense in it, but it's deactivated. I use SPB Mobile Shell instead. It's much lighter on the phone's somewhat limited resources, and much more customizable, especially if you enjoy being able to have your apps right on the home screen, 1 touch away. I've heard that there are many more customizations for it, but I haven't explored them. These days, all my TP2 really does is sit on top of my desktop PC and provide tethered Internet to it via WiFi, but it does that extremely well. I occasionally need to reboot it, but as of right now, it's been connected for over 15 days and 11 hours with no hiccups of any kind. (I'm sure that now that I've said something, it will require a reboot shortly..) Side note: As far as tethering goes, I've noticed that the TP2 becomes unstable (screen non-responsive to touch, various graphical glitches, etc.), but only when I'm using the tethered Internet connection very heavily. If I'm only using it to surf relatively light web pages (along with a few MP3's and YouTube videos), it either doesn't "glitch out", or it takes much longer to do so. In closing, no I don't believe the TP2 sucks, but you have to be realistic with what you expect from it. It's a device based on an older generation of smartphone technology, plus it runs Windows Mobile, which like the desktop version of Windows, can become unstable for no obvious reason if you push it too hard. If you keep your TP2, you may have to adjust how you use it, so as not to overwork it. If you can do that, it is an extremely reliable and usable device. If not, there's no shame in selling it and moving on to a more powerful device. |
