Re: Screen keeps turning on by itself...

it'll turn off within a specific amount of time. of course that probly won't help if ur in a low signal area so its best to enable airplane mode in those areas, its what I do when I'm in class

Yea both of those are already set to the lowest values I can set them to on battery power (10sec). I was just hoping there was a tweek to keep the screen turned off even if it was looking for a signal. Sounds like what quick99si said, I guess it's just a WM "feature"

Re: Screen keeps turning on by itself...

its not a WM feature. Android phones do it too and my arrive which is a wp7 phone does it also (of course it goes right back off if there's no touch feedback ) its just how smartphones react to the changes in the CDMA radio vale? how many times do I have to explain that eh?

Well eric12341 you had a great post until the smart comment "How many times do I need to explain that". You really didn't need to explain it at all. If you didn't notice I put the "feature" in quotes with a big ol jumping smiley face next to it.

I don't get people who will take the time to put down a question that someone posts on a forum that is here to help everyone. This is a place for people like me go to learn and pick the brains of others who know more then I do. Which, in turn gives me more knowledge to help others and so on.

So..... Thank you for the first part of your post but I could have really done with out the second part.

Re: Screen keeps turning on by itself...

AFAIK with all my android devices, and friends i've talked to. and devices i have played with. This is not an issue with android, cdma or not.

This was a known issue with the TP2 waking on notification and or signal change.

I would hope that WP7 didn't inherit this annoyance. But I don't use WP7. So i'm not sure there.

Re: Screen keeps turning on by itself...

Let's not forget that the same thing was happening to the TP1 and I'm almost certain I had similar issues with the Mogul as well. I don't think it's a TP2 issue as much as a hardware/CDMA/WM issue.

you are up in Canada so things are different. TELUS is a hybrid CDMA/GSM network so this issue may not be as pronounced as it is on a CDMA only network. I've seen a few posts in the EVO section of this happening too and that they had to use a juice defender app to combat it. im not 100% sure that my arrive does this in low signal areas as I always put it in airplane mode as a precaution. but I do know that it wakes up for a second upon receiving a new text message. next time im in school which is Tuesday I'll check to see if it does this

Re: Screen keeps turning on by itself...

Happens for the following:

Mogul/Touch Pro/Touch Pro 2

Its a Windows Mobile dis-"Function"... on the charger or not, with my Airvana or not... does it all the time... really distracting actually... but again, nothing you can do (sans Android) Q_Q

Yea I was hoping it was a simple reg setting I could change. You know ...Looking for signal, turn screen on = DUH NO .... should have known it wasn't that easy

Thanks again!
