transfer contacts intact??

The touch pro 2 does STRANGE things with contacts.

when I transfer contacts TO the touch pro 2 from a NON touch pro 2 it works perfectly (bluetooth transfer)

but if the ORIGINAL or SENDER is a touch pro 2 things get hinky

it splits my contacts into separate entries. EXTREMELY annoying.

so if I have an entry called XYZ with 4 phone numbers when I bluetooth transfer the phone book instead of getting XYZ with 4 phone numbers I get FOUR SEPARATE XYZ entries one for EACH phone number

???

Suggestions? I don't want to do PC sync. I want to do either bluetooth or file (via memory card) sync

OR is there an app to "recombine" these separated entries once I do the transfer?

this also means I can not easily send contacts to ANY other phone from my TP2 since it splits the contacts (its the TP2 doing the splitting not the other end)

right now I am just trying to send my contacts from one TP2 to another TP2

any help would be greatly appreciated.

pim backup or sashimi... contacts are the PIM.vol file found on the root of your device... transfer that(dont copy/paste it though, use an app) and everything will transfer perfectly

Re: transfer contacts intact??

hey you rock pimbackup is free too !! as soon as my PC plays nice will get it copied over and try it out

would still love to figure out the BT thing so I can send contacts to otherwise without splitting them into pieces but at least this lets me restore my contacts

BTW pim backup worked a treat and backed other stuff too. Nice program.

my people tab tiles are out of order but hey thats minor big time it transferred my contacts without splitting them apart

Re: transfer contacts intact??

good... i knew it would be fine...

from what ive read ONLY BT transfer of contacts splits them as you say.. someone within the past weeks time asked something similiar/identical to this in here... pretty sure we had to tell them the same thing...

since the phones your transferring between are both winMO, they make an app like iPhone has where you can "shake to send" the contact to the other phone... [APP][1/21/10] Shake2Send - Bump-like app for Windows Mobile. [v1.0.1] - xda-developers maybe that does split like BT does... try it out.. let us know

Re: transfer contacts intact??

yes both winmo infact they are both TP2's with the same exact OS (used the same "rom" from htc to flash them both)

it also does it when I send to any OTHER phone (non winmo etc..) its the TP2 doing it. on receive its fine the TP2 is actually sending separate contacts for some reason

shake2send is discontinued and it does not solved the issue of how do I send contacts to a NON winmo phone pimbackup solves my immediate problem.
