There isn't a way to disable wakeup on incoming text messages. It has to do with the way Windows Mobile handles the change from EVDO to 1X. Text messages are sent on the 1X network so your phone has to switch in order to receive it. And the switch wakes up the phone.
you know, that makes perfect sense! even when you disable wakeup on sms, the phone will still wake up anyways when it switches from ev to 1x.

yeah that was a good call, I notice this when on the interstate on long trips or deep in buildings.

I like the pocketshield proximity edition, think that might help?

I use S2U2 and it has an option that when the proximity sensor is blocked it turns the screen off immediately. It works like a charm. Thank you S2U2

+1 that's what I use. If my phone's in my pocket and the screen turns on, it turns off immediately because the proximity sensor is blocked.

That does make perfect sense, thanks for the explanation. I just didn't know if there were any more recent fixes. I guess I'll stick with s2u for now and get over the extra step

With S2U2 , you can tap the little sms notification icon that comes on at the bottom right , and it will give a preview of the text , then instead of saying slide to unlock it will say slide to view . and take you to the sms messaging . or any other app you want it to take you to mine goes to SMS-Chat . so there really isnt an "extra step"

S2U2 ROCKS
