Anybody tried to use HTCRIE to edit stock release ROM?

Is that a wise move to directly cut out those OEM craps with HTCRIE? Will that generate a usable image at all? I'm using Sprint, things like sprint TV, NFL... are just useless to me and I would like to delete them from the ROM. I was using the HTCRIE on custom ROMs all the time, I don't have time to get ready for kitchen, so that approach helped me get some of my flavor.
