I doubt your battery problems are just due to that led. I would bet you have something else wrong there like a short or maybe your battery is wasted. An led doesn't draw hardly any current to light. Maybe there is corrosion somewhere from the water on one of the boards causing a short that is activating something that draws a lot of power like wifi or some other power hungry feature.

Re: Disable Mute Button LED
You make a great point. After thinking about it, isnt that one of the advantages of LED vs bulbs, is because it draws very little power. Maybe it is time to purchase a used semi-broken TP2 and then interchange parts. Thanks for that input!

Re: Disable Mute Button LED
Our phones probably use 2mm LEDs for the mute button. An LED that size draws at max 5mA. Our Touch Pro 2 batteries can supply 1350mA for one hour. That means your phone can power JUST the LED for 270 hours straight.
The average discharge rate on the TP2 is about 175mA when in use. Assuming your phone stays at that discharge rate, the LED only reduces your battery life by 1.1429% So don't worry about it, you shouldn't really be able to notice an impact on battery life from that. The reduced life you're experiencing is probably due to the water damage

Re: Disable Mute Button LED
At the very moment of you picking up your phone from water, take out the battery. That's the best you can do to protect your phone from further damage. Then, wipe the water off, and try to extract all water that get into the phone out. Leave it in a very dry place, let it go over days, or under a table light, not too hot, but warm. for that, you probably won't have any problem...
I know it's long time ago. But if that's the only problem you can find, you do have a very good luck Try to disassemble the phone carefully, and clean the boards with dry cloth or with some pure alcohol, not rubbing alcohol, pure one. You might not need anything from other crap phone to swap with. |
