Any good reason to use a cook ROM?

Is there any good reason to use a cook ROM?

I am about to do it the first time on my Sprint TP2. (What am I waiting for?)

Since WM is not open source like Android, how do you optimized the code?

All I see the cook ROM does is rearrange the icons and folders, tweaks and add other programs all in one.

Re: Any good reason to use a cook ROM?

Cooked roms have alot if not all bloatware removed, stealth teathering cooked in on most, speed is way better, it really opens the phone up for alot more options and its the way 6.5 should have been out of the box!!!!

Re: Any good reason to use a cook ROM?

I see. So is it really worth it to do it?

Is there a poll on which cook ROM is the most popular out there?

Good lord, your post is seriously everything that is wrong with these boards all in one fell swoop.

I have little experience with flashing...only tried MightyRom 5/24/10 (I know it's not SE or FF...not sure what basic version is called). I have never updated the version or anything...seems as stable as stock and with some things already set up like tethering, long press 'x' to close program, UC Customize, and no startup wav. I guess for me, it's always just seemed like a lot of the little things are taken care of, bloatware removed, an maybe a small bump in speed (although overclocking made big changes there). I'm a little freaked about reflashing, Task29'ing, or relocking, but I rest easy it's at least a little better than stock. I just cringe a little when I have a Sprint rep look at my phone!

Re: Any good reason to use a cook ROM?

each time i flash an update from energy im glad that i still have my touch pro 2. and a rom has more than just small tweaks and rearranging folders.. it can be CHT, different sys builds and diffrent themes.

Re: Any good reason to use a cook ROM?

its pretty much useless to try to ask which rom is the best (poll or not). it all depends on personal preference, some ppl like eye candy, others like stability and free ram and some like the middle ground the best.it depends on what ur lookin for. i once was on the stock 6.5 but then i decided i wanted the start on the bottom so i went with mighty full force but after the SODs and ram leaks i decided to goto the sprint basics 6.1 rom but then i decided to go give 6.5 another chance so i tried the vins neodium it was pretty stable but the problem in my sig caused me to go back to stock 6.1, plus i could never get OzIM to work on any cooked roms and i cant find any other IM program like it.
