Touchscreen dead except when I....

So hopefully someone is able to help me out. My touchscreen on y TP2 is sort of dead. The reason I say sort of is because I can get it to work under two conditions. The first one is if I take it into direct sunlight and point the screen straight at the sun then start touching the screen it comes alive. The second way is when I press somewhat firmly on the top part of the phone, by the speaker I think it is the proximity sensor. If I squeeze right there with my thumb and my index finger on the back, I can usually get something working. I think the issue my be with my proximity sensor. I tried several different roms include booting into android, and all experience the same problem. Anyone out there able to fix this without replacing the hardware?

Re: Touchscreen dead except when I....

if its under a yr old. re-flash it stock re-lock and take it into a repair center if you have insurance. even if not it should fall under the 1 yr manufacturer warranty.

Took it Sprint and....my little water sticker had turned red. No idea when this happened, I think it was a long time ago so they refused to fix it. I have one of those stickers so I am going to try and switch them around, try again tomorrow.

Damn that sucks. Try to go right before they close, that's what I did and they barely looked at my phone before they were like "yeah we're gonna have to order you a new one". They must have been trying to get all the customers out of the store but they didn't even notice the red thing was gone from my phone and the one on the battery was red too.

Re: Touchscreen dead except when I....

there is three water stickers on the sprint model, the one that is on the side is red on most of them. some are from factory. this can happen from just holding your phone on a hot day. # 2 is on batt, this one can turn red easy as well. the one that you cant really get wet unless you drop it in water. it is inside under the bottom batt cover clip( inside a hole very hard to see) if it is still checkerd show them that and......

Re: Touchscreen dead except when I....

Have them verify that the internal water indicator isn't activated as stated above. There are 3 water indicators on all TP2s as far as I know, all in the same general location. The two that are clearly visible can easily get in contact with moisture and turn red (battery and just under the battery cover). Some people even had them activated on NIB devices. The internal one shouldn't be all red unless you dropped it in water. If that one is still good, they should still be able to do a warranty replacement.

Re: Touchscreen dead except when I....

Well....I am an idiot and before double checking all these post I went ahead and opened up my device, decided to try and mess with it, being an engineer I decided why not...low and behold I found out nothing, but did manage to crack the screen when I was checking out the digitizer.

I had an extra screen (one I had cracked a while ago) that still works besides the crack, so I put that back in. I should have just done nothing but my impatience got the best of me.

I did look at the one water marker inside right by the battery and it is still checkered. So Sprint yet again trying to screw over their own customer, albeit with a little help from said customer.
