Re: Going back to WinMo from Android (Samsung Moment) TP or TP2?
TP2 is an awesome device- no doubt in my mind. If only it came with a 1GHz instead of the 528- though that can be solved by overclocking.
Having said that, I've been overclocking for awhile (originally at 748, I've had to move it back to stock speed) because it kept freezing constantly- and I've done it in increments of lowering too... (748 > 710 > 600s > stock). Either way, my processor may as well just be failing and I'll be gettin the Epic in...8 days |

TP2
-More development -Better resolution -Bigger Screen -Roomier keyboard -Looks sexier The only thing I liked on the TP was that LED Click Wheel, so awesome lol But where did you get your Moment roms from? There are a few good sites that have some nice stuff, like Interceptor, which has a lot of nice eye candy and TouchWiz 3.0, noobnl's Radioactive Eclair is very stable and I used that forever but Dearma's latest Keebler seems to blow it out the water for me.. If you ever get bored with the Moment, you should try some of those!

I used a moment and hated it. I too was in the "need a keyboard" crowd. I got the evo and never looked back. The screen is nice and big to type and still thin enough to not feel in my pocket.
I do miss my tp2 but it was time to move on Sent from my fast as hell phone that you can only wish you had

Agreed. Since I picked up a Moment a month ago, my TP2 has been sitting on the shelf. There Are some good Roms, TI-X 1.3 just came out yesterday! This phone runs MUCH smoother than my TP2. The TP2 has a better screen and feels more solid but I was just getting tired of Winmo 6.5 I have the latest Xandroid port, but it's very lacking, and half the apps I try to install Don't work. Never had a TP but the TP2 is hard to beat if your wanting to stay with WM. OR you could pick up an EVO for around $200 if your in to paying an extra $10/month for nothing, unless your in a 4G area. |

Re: Going back to WinMo from Android (Samsung Moment) TP or TP2?
well aftermarket i've been seeing the evo and the epic at about $400 each. i would have considered them options otherwise.
touch pro ($100) and touch pro 2 ($200) are probably my best bet for now. i want a new device because on top of my annoyances with the moment overall my 3.5 mm jack is dieing and i need music since my mode of transportation is bike/bus. i think i've decided on the touch pro. the tipping point for me was that the touch pro has hardware 3d in android. which to me hardware 3d seems mandatory in android for a smooth device. i've used the moment for months and i've noticed it fairly badly. overall it seems the touch pro port of android seems further along and the difference in winmo is somewhat minimal last i've heard. plus the d-pad is always nice for emulation since there is obviously no multi-touch. then there is the flash i've mentioned i like before, i used it a lot when working inside computers...and generally being afraid of the dark. i admit that touch pro 2 probably would work better for media and pocket artist but i think that is something i'm willing to part with to have a better experience on android. that and with the touch pro literally going for double the price of the touch pro, i don't think i could bring myself to spend the extra money. |

You might check craigslist. I've seen Evo's in the $200-$300 range just in my area. There were 2 NEW Epics for $300 for both a few weeks ago here, but they were sold by the time I got the person to answer their phone. |

Re: Going back to WinMo from Android (Samsung Moment) TP or TP2?
i live in vermont, my area is too small. i never see anything decent on craigslist so it's never really been an option for me.
EDIT: wooooooot fixed my moment's headphone pooortt i can sell it working now. apparently the jack was just loose so slight pressure moved it enough to cut the sound out of one channel, i just carefully sealed it back up so that it wouldn't move anymore and now it's 100%...still want a touch pro though. i fell in love all over again XD Last edited by SNYPE2K9; 09-24-2010 at 02:19 AM. |

Re: Going back to WinMo from Android (Samsung Moment) TP or TP2?
I just recently got a TP2 as a replacement for my TP which I have had since it came out I got a refurb TP2 through sprint insurance. A valid claim I may add.
In the span of 2 under 2 weeks I have flashed 4 different roms and finally settled on Energy ROM WM 6.5 24634 Sense 2.1. I have been using Energy ROM for over a year on my TP, and many others prior. While I had my TP I installed just about every music program available, and also played with android throughout it's long and troubled development for the platform. I finally recently decided that if I was going to jump to android i would get a dedicated Android device with a capacitive screen and not deal with the persistent buggyness of running it on top of WinMo which is buggy enough as it is. - When I decided to get the TP2 I thought I would miss the camera flash, for the purposes of using it as a flashlight. I loved Htorch, but I do not miss it at all. The screen itself on the tp2 lights up the room. If while taking a photo, the situation was dark enough to require a flash, then the TP flash was not only inadequate, but the picture came out crappy anyway. - I love the huge screen of the TP2, and could never go back to a touchscreen so small. Swype is much more difficult to use on th TP with it's little screen, but a dream to use on the TP2. - The Speaker on the TP2 BLOWS AWAY the speaker on the TP, this is good for music as well as for the speaker phone function which sucked on my TP. - More programs are made for WVGA than for VGA these days. Slacker radio which I use in the car all the time works perfectly on the TP2. On the TP1 you cannot see the buttons on the bottom to love or skip songs. - TP2 better graphics and once you update your ROM and the D3D drivers there is no graphic slowdown. All without overclocking. - The ability to overclock should you need it works great on the TP2 - TP2 Keyboard is much bigger and easier to use. - Using the web on the TP2 is sooo much nicer with the bigger screen. Opera Mini works great. - 3.5mm Headphone jack!!!!!!!! - The camera SEEMS so much better and more responsive on the TP2. - My TP1 would heat up, usually while using slacker radio or GPS in the car and then would stop charging. Haven't had this happen on the TP2. - Bigger battery on the TP2. - On standby my TP2 lasts a very long time. I have been contemplating the Samsung Epic months before it's release, but there is no 4G coverage in my area yet, and I refuse to pay for something i am not getting and I would also have to change plans of which I have a great one now. Not worth the upgrade ever since I switched to the TP2. If given the option..... Users of the TP1 would swap for the TP2 Users of the TP2 would NOT swap for a TP1. Just my 2 cents.
