Re: So.... TP2 a dead platform?
The TP2, the HD2, and HTC Universal are the best phones ever made for the WMO platform and will remain that way in history. Too bad I never released my roms because they kicked ass on my TP2.
Also psycho is right, TP2 best keyboard ever! Lastly never argue with Fish, he is always right. Peace

Re: So.... TP2 a dead platform?
I must be missing something. My TP2 with stock 6.5 ROM works fine. I am able to tether OR use HTC Wifi Router without any problems. Email works well. Text messaging is stable. I can browse the web with a static browser (Opera) or see flash video with Skyfire. Google Maps and BING do an excellent job as a secondary GPS. Slingbox is also dependable. All this while paying significantly less on SERO.
It is disappointing to see the limited of number of WinMo Apps on MS Market Place compared to Android (or iPhone), but I don't use my phone as a game platform or toy. I can survive with the basics and the known quirks. In the end, I won't pay extra $$ for an HTC Android device that has a similar UI as WinMO (Sense). I believe hardware specs vice "Android" is what makes the phones more responsive. I'll stick with my rotary dial phone until an improved touch tone phone is available under SERO for no extra cost. -- Jeff |

Kind of like the horse and buggy... there wasn't really anything WRONG with it, the car was just better. I'm thinking my TP2 is going the way of the horse and buggy.

Re: So.... TP2 a dead platform?
well for starters TP2 isnt a platform, its a cell phone.. winMO is the platform...
TP2 was hardly D.O.A. it was highly anticipated and sold out for months... so "dead release" doesnt even come close... Quote:
i have to agree though, everyone comparing TP2 to brand new devices are just way off base... even Fanboys know better than to try to compare an iPhone 3GS to an iPhone OS4.. its just an unfair comparison... so why does everyone try to do it with winMO? Theres still people using Moguls, TP1s and still LOVE their phones wholeheartedly... so what, because a Mogul, TP1, TP2, HD2, or any other winMO device doesnt have "todays specs" its a shit phone now?? what ever happened to : "Whatever works best for the individual End User is whats Best".. i mean shit thats what we all tell people in those infamous "best rom threads", we tell everyone that it comes down to what works best for Their Needs.. so guess what people, maybe the TP2 is still what "works best for us".. anyone hating on the abilities of Project Android and/or XDAndroid honestly are just hilarious... the fact that even got pulled off, makes winMO a more "open to development" platform than Android or iOS... since NO OTHER platform allows for that much open development... so just be grateful you even got to play with Android on a winMO device... shit, theres plenty of Android devices that dont even have Froyo yet and maybe never will get them.. to bad for them though, if they had a TP2 they could have Froyo already.. My TP2 will still do just about anything any Android device can do... if theyd of given us a winMO device with 1-1 1/2GHZ processors, and 1GB Ram/Rom itd be a whole new comparison... but they didnt, so its just not fair to compare any of the devices.. post is getting long, time to wrap it up.... im not a DEV at all.. but I still look for new things to do, always... i dont even know Linux, but because my TP2 can do it, i tried Ubuntu.. i did the whole Full Win95/98 thing..so i guess Ill leak here offically what im working on.. its not really new, since Android does already.. but Im currently developing booting Multiple Roms from SDCard... so when your device starts up you can select between different winMO roms to run, just like you can in the other "gen y dual boot-like" startup utility... so in theory you can hold as many Roms as you want.. figure its just soemthing new to delve into and maybe give people something fresh to play with.. anyways.. winMO still rocks because no matter how old we can still tweak it out better than any other platform..
