I didnt' want to waste battery so I set it up as manual sync, but I am 40 miles from the nearest repair center with no car until monday

Mine did that before, the ONLY way it would work was if I took the battery out and put it back in... I had to take it in for a refurb.

I've tried that, I keep soft-resetting too. I considered a hard reset but I do not want to lose my contacts.
