It seems to me that you may have something installed that may be causing your problem.

I suggest using SPB Backup or Sprite and do full backup of your phone saved to your card. Then do a Hard Reset.

After your phone boots up, test it with nothing else installed. If it is now working like you want it to, figure out what you had installed that was dorking your phone.

If it is still acting up, you can still restore your phone from the backup you did earlier, or check on getting a replacement device....

quickgps has nothin to do with the htc's location service. The htc location service uses AGPS, not GPS. AGPS detects your location by cell tower triangulation. I can have gps off and agps and htc location service will still work perfectly.

Quickgps updates your phone with the most current gps satelite position data. It helps with getting faster gps lock times.
