Re: Beginner HTC Touch Pro 2 Questions

That was pretty long wasn't it lol... sometimes my fingers go on autopilot.

Yes, this method could be used to fix that screwed up taskbar icon. Anything you see on the phone can be modified with cfc-gui, including the clock, the taskbars, the icon placeholders..etc. Just replace that messed up dusk icon with the original PNG.

Strange thing is, I remember seeing my icons (plain windows default) getting screwed up just like that once when I had installed some cabs then decided not to soft reset, then ran a heavy-memory program like skyfire. But in my case soft reset fixed it. You prolly have done that.

So yeah, on my windows 7, it shows windows folder right off the bat. Strange yours doesn't but I looked it up on google and saw other people had the issue. Maybe wrong version of activesync or windows mobile device center? Your idea would be an ok workaround, it's a shame you have to waste that time.

I didn't find any immediate solutions with google. Maybe it's some weird win7 setting similar to "hide protected operating system files". If you haven't already, go to start and type "folder options" in the search box, then change your options to show all files including hidden and OS.

Re: Beginner HTC Touch Pro 2 Questions

ahh ok thanks, i was gonna google it as well but had to go out haha. i remember on XP it showed a big blue window and asked you "are you sure" but it still displayed the folder lol. i'll try fix my HTC phone now, thank you SO much tho i might have trouble finding the small "speaker" icon for the taskbar, is there any place i can view those PNGs (like where the developers post the cabs, can i extract the PNGs from em)?

for reference, this was the original toolbar i installed

the taskbar icons are typically not .png files and/or manilla files...they are contained in .dll files.

the speaker is in a dll.
you can use some tools to swap out the images inside of the dll files - but it is a tedious process. if you are interested i can try and find the programs i use and tell you what to get...i would just tell you but they are on another computer.

try installing the cab i directed you to. if it is still messed up then un-install it and see if it is back to normal.

installing a taskbar cab will over-write the existing dll files, uninstalling it will delete those dll files, allowing your ROM to re-load the ROMs original dll files.

yea im not sure if installing the cab you showed me will let me uninstall it, cuz as of right now, i dont know how to uninstall this Pegasus Toolbar (uninstalling from the "remove programs" doesn't work..). but sure i'll give it a shot, the thing i find weird is that the theme works for other people and i dont think it would make a difference that my phone was a global device converted to unlocked US-GSM even though i downloaded a GSM theme (im assuming that CDMA vs. GSM themes only differ in the signal strength icons and such?)

will at least be able to edit the verizon sign hehe, not sure whether to remove it all together or put my own custom logo like geras of war or something .

i believe there are other differences in taskbars, etc... if I remember correctly from when i made the taskbar.
the cab i linked you to should be un-installable via remove programs.

Re: Beginner HTC Touch Pro 2 Questions

successfully removed the verizon logo, now im gonna try put some text of my name or something

i didn't see any toolbar icons in the manilla files, im guessing it is indeed in the DLL file ppl have been talking about, which i will look around shortly after i try installing that other toolbar that nayr1482 suggested. will see which one i like better, cuz i was a fan of the Pegasus color theme that he chose (black and silver). first will try make this as in place of the verizon logo hehe
