Re: Change Caller ID Number (CNID)
Truth in Caller ID Act of 2007 – Amends the Communications Act of 1934 to make it unlawful for any person in the United States, in connection with any telecommunications service or Internet protocol (IP)-enabled voice service, to cause any caller identification (ID) service to transmit misleading or inaccurate caller ID information, unless such transmission is exempted in connection with: (1) authorized activities of law enforcement agencies; or (2) a court order specifically authorizing the use of caller ID manipulation.

Re: Change Caller ID Number (CNID)
I'm very familiar with the Truth in Caller ID Act that is still kicking around in Congress. It's needed because Caller IDs have been abused by the likes of telemarketers and collection agencies posing as other people to mislead users. However, if you read the bill the key term is "knowingly transmit misleading or inaccurate caller identification information with the intent to defraud, cause harm, or wrongfully obtain anything of value..". (3)(B). Its actually only 1 page, so go check it out yourself.
What I'm doing is not illegal and was even setup for us on a previous carrier. The fact that I own both my cell phone's number and my office number, and that they both are representative of the calling party, and both will let you get back in touch with is in no way misleading or inaccurate. This is also how Google Voice remains legal, and how businesses can still use a single number or even an 800 for their outgoing ANI. But I digress... I'm looking to see if its even technically possible on a CDMA handset on the firmware or provisioning level before I drag myself through Sprint's Technical Support torture chamber. Re: Change Caller ID Number (CNID)
some IP capable PBX's have a cell phone extension where you can have calls to your desk ring the cell, ect.. part of this usually allows for calls to be made from the office via the cell. (I don't know about cisco, the last pbx's I worked with still work. lol )

Re: Change Caller ID Number (CNID)
none of the digital cellular systems will let the user change the caller id. some carriers may be persuaded or have business channels to allow for altered CID, however it will not be something easy to change. your best hope at that point would be 2 accounts using the same esn (dual nam) or unlocked gsm on tp2.

Re: Change Caller ID Number (CNID)
i agree.... unlock your phone for sim card and then get a prepaid tmobile phone. pop out the sim and put it in your tp2.... then just switch back and forth....
