All the cord does is simply transfer data, it can't store anything it's just a cable...

OP, try a hard reset if anything...

Re: Windows Mobile Device Center problem

Try checking only the ActiveSync option under Settings->USB to PC and nothing else. Worked for me.

Ha. Ok before I got on here today I thought maybe the cord is the problem. It's a brand new cord though keep in mind, works just fine for charging. Although last night when I plugged it into the phone as a wall charger the phone kept thinking it was trying to connect to the cpu which was strange. I actually used to have this problem towards the end with my old touch pro..

So I got out my old cord, the first one I had with my touch pro which is falling apart and there are exposed wires showing lol.. And the old cord when hooked up to the cpu installed the drivers! For some reason it doesn't like the new cord which is odd.

I'm glad I got this solved, I had tried just about everything else. I'd hate to hard reset cuz my most recent back up is contacts/messages only. The last full backup I've done was with sprite back in May. The reason I wanted to hook the phone up to the cpu was to take some of my old backup files off the memory card so I could do a full backup before hard reseting. It's also a lot easier to switch stuff and forth from phone to cpu when you are limited with a 1 gb memory card. I need to go out and get a 16gb.

Anyways thanks to all those that took the time to respond! =D>

Re: Windows Mobile Device Center problem

Just found a method that allowed me finally connect to my Touch Pro2 using a cable. Was looking through applications on my phone, and found an ActiveSync program.

Plugged the phone into the computer, then launched the ActiveSync on the phone ("Start"--> "All Applications"--> "ActiveSync"). Windows Mobile Device Center found the phone in about five seconds.

The ActiveSync program on the phone closed after I disconnnected. Trying a second time to see if it worked, I plugged the phone in. Now, the phone shows me the popup for about a second, then it shows a status of syncing with the PC (which it had never done before). I hadn't even had the time to run the ActiveSync on the phone.

When plugging in before, I always got the popup for ActiveSync or disk drive, but never a sync status message. Seems to find it every time now, tried it five or six times, worked every time.
