Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 in reboot loop

We recently purchased a Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 phone from Ebay. I accessed the Bootloader mode to see if the device was locked and now the device is in a constant reboot loop. We have tried a soft and hard reset and now the device will get to the Windows loading screen and then reboot all over again.

I can enter Bootloader mode without any problem. I have searched through the forums and found the procedures for flashing the ROM in bootloader mode but the problem still persists. The flashing shows 100% complete and the device reboots, but then it goes right back in to the reboot loop. I have to remove the battery for several minutes to get the device to shut off completely.
Can anyone provide some guidance on how we can get this fixed? Do I need to unlock the device before flashing the ROM? Can someone provide me with the links to the downloads I need?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

First I would try to Flash the stock ROM and get things stable first if it's just rebooting it's self.

Link below for stock ROM......

The tri-color screen shows the following:

SPL - 0.72.0000

MicroP(LED) 0x0A
MicorP(key) 0x04
Turbo HW/Turbo SW

TP MFG DATA
512,525 810,854
807,196 196,204

I will also try the links that were posted above.

Thanks for the quick replys and again, I appreciate the help!

Looks like you are still HSPL locked, but right now I would just worry about getting a stock rom loaded and make sure your phone is working first before you go trying to unlock it and load custom ROM's.

Re: Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 in reboot loop

Okay, I have downloaded the ROM. Now would someone please provide the proper steps to follow when flashing the ROM in bootloader mode?

Thank you!

Re: Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 in reboot loop

if you've downloaded the rom, just make sure your phone is connected to your computer. if it is, "USB" should pop up on your tri color..when it is, as Wesley said, just double click the exe stock rom and it should walk you through installing the stock rom from the bootloader screen.

I flashed the ROM and now the device will display the Touch Pro 2 screen for about 60 seconds and then it shuts off completely. Help!

Re: Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 in reboot loop

If you have a memory card in take it out, same thing with the Sim card, if you have one in there take it out and see if that helps.

Re: Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 in reboot loop

Removed the memory card (don't have SIM card), problem still persists. I was able to get it back into bootloader mode, but it shut off after about 10 seconds.

Does the battery have a full charge?

Try using a different USB cable and using a different Port.

I have let the phone charge for over an hour now without touching it and it is still in the endless reboot loop. I have tried a different USB cable as well, still not working.

At this point I would try and see if you can send it back to the person you got it from off Ebay as it sounds like bad hardware to me. unless someone else any other idea's that I have not thought of.

Sorry its not working :(

Re: Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 in reboot loop

We have two other HTC Touch Pro 2 devices that we ordered so I swapped the battery with one of those and now the device will load to the Windows Mobile Version 6.1 flash screen, but then it reboots again.

Wesley762 - I truly appreciate the assistance you have provided and hopefully someone will be able to help. Thank you!

I would try but Honestly I can not understand your question, sounds like the HSPL did not work for you, I am guessing English is not your first language. Can you try to reword your question?

Re: Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 in reboot loop

UPDATE - I found information while searching through the forums that suggested that I flash the ROM through the SD card. I was able to copy the RHODIMG.nbh file to the SD Card and then update the ROM on the device through Bootloader mode. The update shows successful, but the device remains in the constant reboot loop.

Does anyone have any suggestions on we can get this fixed?

flash the stock rom using computer, instead of sd card.
also, check the battery terminals...make sure they're not bent or touching.
also, look in the charge/usb port and make sure non of the terminals are bent or touching.

Re: Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 in reboot loop

Thank you for your reply, but I have already done everything that you suggested. The device remains in a continuous reboot loop where it will begin to load Windows and then it reboots before the process bar even gets 1/4 of the way across. I have flashed the ROM several times through the PC as well as the SD card, but I cannot get the phone out of this reboot loop.

At this point, after 3 weeks, I highly recommend you send the phone back as defective. I would hope you have PayPal buyer protection on the eBay purchase. Did the seller say the phone was "as-is"? or is there a DOA clause? You should have sent this back 2 weeks ago - hope you haven't waited too long.

I have to wonder if the seller flashed an incompatible ROM or radio to this phone....

If you want to post the eBay auction link, maybe we could advise you better.

But, please act before the 30-day PayPal period.

Re: Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 in reboot loop

what about unlocking and maybe even relocking..

you guys remember the "infinite boot loop" from the TP1 sd card flashing days.. there was even a poll in the sd flashing thread i believe because it happened often enough.. the solution then was just to re-unlock your device again..

maybe OP bought the phone from someone who had it unlocked and then re-locked it and soemthing went wrong in the process..

since youve tried everything else OP, try unlocking and flashing(even though you dont need to unlock for stock roms).. try different combos: unlock>flash.. does it work? unlock>relock>flash.. does it work? unlock>flash custom... theres about 6 different combos to work through like this, but you may find the issue.. but itll take a bit of trial and error

Re: Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 in reboot loop

I appreciate the suggestions and I am willing to try anything, but is there a way to unlock / relock the device through either bootloader mode or the SD card? The main issue is that the device is stuck in a reboot loop leaving us unable to use Active Synch. We can enter bootloader mode and flash the ROM all day long, but nothing seems to be bring the device out of the never-ending reboot loop.

Thanks!

Yes, I believe I have tried both the stock ROMS 6.1 and 6.5. If you have a link(s)for the Stock ROMs so that I can double-check, I would greatly appreciate it.

If you have a Touch Pro you might want to ask in the Touch Pro forum, this is the Touch Pro 2 forum.

Have you tried:
Powering the device down and/or removing the battery until it shuts off completely. Then press and hold talk, end, and power butons. Then while holding these down insert the battery and follow prompts and hard reset.
If not try it. ;)

Re: Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 in reboot loop

@willysp...Although I appreciate your advice and suggestions your implication is not appreciated.

The "real story" is that the General Manager purchased these devices over 3 months ago. The devices worked fine when we received them and we were searching for ROMs to flash so that we could eventually install a software program onto the devices. I placed the Sprint HTC TP2 device in bootloader mode to see if the seller had already unlocked the device. After exiting bootloader mode, the device went into the reboot cycle and has been that way ever since.

or see if the ebay seller will take it back and refund you what you paid.
