Every rom I flash...

I do have a few questions. Ever since I have flashed roms they always seem to be buggy. Even the Stable ones. For example Mighty, and Mr. X (Great ROMs). There must be something I am missing. 1/4 times when texting the texting bar goes all out of wack and I have to exit back to the main screen to try and clear it. When I flash roms I run Task 29 and then flash the rom over. Its happened to every rom I have. So is there something I'm missing? Maybe leaving the sd card or sim card in? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Every rom I flash...

it's likely because there are 3 things trying to work the messaging. there's the root winmo threaded txt, then there's the wm6.5 or whatever, and sense (if that's the flavor of choice)
but when you find the perfect rom let me know and we can turn off the lights.

Personally to me im not a fan of task 29.. Have you tried flashing back to stock and then reflashing your favorite rom and see if it makes a difference?

Re: Every rom I flash...

Thanks guys, I have tried switching back to the original 6.5 then back to the ROM I am using, but not lately. Ill give that a try again and skip the task 29. Is there any reason to not use task 29? Just sucks everytime the sense gets messed up. Thanks again.

I flash quite a bit, probable several ROMs a week when I am tweaking things, and task29 has never let me down to my knowledge.

I guess some phones are just funny that way. I do the Task29 then I load stock, then the custom ROM. (If I am staying with the same chef, I skip Task29 and just do the flash dance) I find that if I don't load Stock, my txt seems to be messed up. Some time I cannot send at all, some times I can't reply or don't even recieve txt messages. But if I load stock, then flash and clear storage I have no problems.

Re: Every rom I flash...

it seems all phones are different.

I don't flash three times a week like some posters (I don't really see the point in that), but I have flashed quite a bit when I was looking for a ROM to use everyday.

After trying probably 15 ROMs in a row, I settled on the Dec 18th NRG DUSK ROM as everything worked perfectly back then & I ran it until just a few weeks back when VZ changed something & my MMS stopped working. At that point, I flashed the newest NRG 2.5 ROM (23569) & everything works fine again.

I have flashed hundreds of ROMs all the way back to the xv 6700 days & I have never done anything other than just flash the new ROM over the old one. If I have time, I might do a clear storage once after the flash but I don't even do that some of the time.

I'm not sure why it's different for me, but I have never once had the kind of problems that posters recommend doing the "flash dance' (whatever that it) to correct. My SMS/MMS always work just fine on the first try (as long as I input the correct servers etc). My current system runs very smooth & fast 7 hasn't frozen up once.

I am an IT Admin & I build/tweak/maintenance/troubleshoot etc. both MAC & Windows machines all day at work, so things like a BIOS flash, OS reinstall, Ghosting a hard drive, Virus removable etc. etc. are second nature to me & I'm sure that helps a lot.

I guess my point is, there is no way you should have to go through the silly things i see people posting where they are hard resetting, task29, clear storage etc.etc.etc. to ridiculous extents where they seem almost obsessed with it.

99% of the time, doing nothing but a reflash & maybe one clear storage after that just to be safe is all you need........

+1 on this....I never ever have done a flash dance...and I have only done Task 29 like twice....usually all I do is flash, clear storage and done...

But as Jmorton stated these phones are so different from one to the next....

Steps to Flash Dance by:

Put Disco music on the turntable (CD Player) Start spinning the mirrored ball mounted on ceiling and turn on laser light.

1) Flash Stock ROM
2) Flash Custom ROM
3) Clear Storage.

Now you have Flash Danced with the best!!
