Re: Slingbox question

Another tidbit about the Slingbox. You can hook up more than just your cable box. the most you can hook up is 4 devices. Example: 1. Cable box, 2. DVD player, 3. Security system, 4. DVR. It is great. Just keep in mind that if you use a computer, everything is fine, but streaming to a cell phone, the quality of what you view on your cell phone will depend on the quality of the signal that you are receiving over your cell phone network. So if you are getting a great strong signal, the picture and audio are great. If you have a weak signal to your cell phone, then expect that to effect the quality of the picture and audio. Either it will get fuzzy or pixelated or will freeze up or you can just loose the signal and have to reconnect or restart the software. I hope that this helps you. I use my Slingbox every day. Some places have a great signal and some don't. So, I am letting you know from over 4 years of Slingbox experience. Get one. You wonKt regret it at all. Once you get one, you won't know why you did not get one sooner.

Re: Slingbox question

I am going to get it - sounds great; trying to decide which option. I currently have Dish Network so I could upgrade one of my DVRs to the VIP 922 for $200 which has it built in. However, I think that eliminates the ability of watching a real second TV in the house(dual tuners on other dvrs)

Question, on the pro model, it uses it's own tuner, right? Therefore, if I log in while on travel, it will not disturb the use of any TV in the house by anyone else, right?

Re: Slingbox question

I still use the Sllingbox classic I bought when they first came out. Here's a youtube video I made 4 years ago - slnging on the 6700! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ATG6uyEJSI. I still use it all the time, both on the internet and at home. I had the World Cup running up in the corner of my computer this morning while I checked email in my office. - sheureka

Re: Slingbox question

Well, I bought the Slingbox pro hd; no problem setting it up with my dish VIP722 DVR.

However, the remote doesn't work when using my MacBook. I know this is not the right forum, but you are all geeks, right? Anyone here with a suggestion?

Mike

Re: Slingbox question

Does the remote work on your phone?
(is this a problem with the macbook? or a problem with the remote?)

with ours, we have to position the little diode things so they're pointing at the cable box ... sometimes they need repositioned
