Check my math: Cost to move from a TP2 to an Evo

I was on the Evo bandwagon and have been thinking about the switch since its announcement. Is the Evo worth the extra cost?

Current Plan:
SERO 500:
Cost per Mo. $30
Ins&Tep: $7
Surcharges: $2.16
Tax: $2
4G Access: $0
CorpDiscount:0%
Tot. Per Mo.: $41.16
24 Months: $987.84

Proposed Plan Req. For Evo:
Everything Data 450:
Cost per Mo. $69.99
Ins&Tep: $7
Surcharges: $2.16
Tax: $4.04
4G Access: $10
CorpDiscount: 20%
Tot. Per Mo.: $74.55
24 Months: $1789.18

Cost to keep the TP2 for 2 years: $987.84
Cost to own the new evo (including phone): $1989.18

If you are planning on switching, have you been able to formulate a better deal?

Thanks
pt

Your corp discount doesnt come with a private sprint site? Just wondering cause the phone is not officially out and Im curious to see if it will be any cheaper on some of those sites. You know how slickdeals always finds something.

having a phone that doesn't run sluggishly, on a smaller screen yet a bulkier phone with an outdated, inferior OS is easily worth $500 a year to me.

Re: Check my math: Cost to move from a TP2 to an Evo

I checked my co's website and the evo is not listed on there yet. I'll keep an eye on it and report back when it is.

I agree with you orange, that a phone that doesn't run like a turd has got to be worth paying extra.

Yea that is a major increase of the life of a contract ....but I am willing to do it. I have to give up Sero sooner or later might as well be now and get on a premiere account.

Re: Check my math: Cost to move from a TP2 to an Evo

I use Nav so that is $10 which comes out to be $50. Then android will have google maps nav for free. So that kinda kills the $10.

So I just look at it as I don't have to wait 8 seconds when I close out of my text messages. I will be able to video chat with my friend who is getting an EVO. Gotta keep up with the cool device and will have to give up something to do it.

Re: Check my math: Cost to move from a TP2 to an Evo

I'm hoping that something like the EVO will come to T-Mo because my parents can add me to their contract and I'd be paying about the same...idc about 4g tbh.

I'm in the same boat as the OP tho. Currently, I finally found a good ROM for my TP2 so that I don't see a good enough need to switch...meaning the advantages don't accommodate for the huge increase in price.

Re: Check my math: Cost to move from a TP2 to an Evo

I was looking to upgrade immediately to the EVO...but I'm not gettin that gotahaveit feeling...and this is knowing that the phone is ALREADY rooted.

I can't justify an extra $40 a month (10 for 4G access which I don't operate in a 4g coverage area to justify paying; $30 a month xtra for a "wifi" hot spot feature that I already have with WMWiFirouter for a one time $30 cost)

ON top it all...the wife just bought me an iPad 3G that I'm already kicking the $30 unlimited data with NO contract.

I might just wait til XMas and see if there's anything bigger and BADDER coming out.
