Thumbs down Office Mobile 2010 (WATCH OUT NO CUT AND PASTE)

I was wondering if anyone else has experience with Office Mobile 2010. The official version is released an available through Marketplace. Office 2010 will be available June 15 as far as I know (retail) although corporate versions will be out earlier.

I have been running the 2010 Beta on my Windows 7 machine but have not instituted the Outlook 2010 yet. I noticed that the Mobile version did not come with Outlook in it. Has anyone experience with the Outlooks? I assume you get a mobile version with the install of the desktop version and that they synch.

Other question is I wonder if anyone has been clever enough to link live documents to the 2010 version. On you desktop you can save documents up in the cloud in 2010 and get the location of the server. You can then mount this virtual drive on your machine and get 25GB of cloud storage... rather neat. I would like to set the same thing up on my Tp2 (dream) but unlikely it can happen.

PS If you load Word 2010 Beta you can get the url for your cloud storage. I will not be fully using Word 2010 for a while since the 2007 plug-in for EndNote crashes Word 2010 and no fix is in sight from EndNote (a citation plugin).

PPS: WATCH OUT, NO CUT AND PASTE. I tried to install an old application and could not past in the registration codes... I am amazed Microsoft is so stupid as to put this out as compatible with Word 2010 and not have the ability to edit Word documents.

PPPS: I think I have to go back to the 6.5 version if I can. These TP2s may become very valuable if they can still cut and paste word documents.

Re: Office Mobile 2010

i still havent look at it.. went looking for the cab as i saw the release but found no download link anywhere on MS i thought..

i have win 7 OS on my lappy.. with no outlook as well... i only use outlook to have a hard copy stored of all my contacts in case something ridculous happens to my storage card and handset...

dunno bout live documents either... until im forced into cloud computing, ill never do it.... MS has a thing in WMP that says they review your playing/viewing habits already... itd be unsafe to assume any company that offers cloud computing storage, doesnt also have a program running though everything stored on it and reading it for important or damaging info..this is why i dont use MS MyPhone... dont need another excuse to have MS go through all my stuff..

think Patriot Act... like the government doesnt wanna know what everyone has on anything thats uploaded to a cloud service

Thumbs down Re: Office Mobile 2010 (WATCH OUT NO CUT AND PASTE)

The trick to downloading is to use the online (onphone) "Marketplace". Then search for "Office 2010". It can only download to the phone.

This will not be useful to you unless you are like me stuck in the military/industrial/government complex.

I have a secure Sharepoint account that I am going to try to login to using their software. What they (MS) have done is make a consumer version of Sharepoint available in Office 2010. The advantage of this is it opens up tons of additional storage that you can share between the PC and Phone.

I JUST NOTICED, THAT AS FEARED, THERE IS NO CUT AND PASTE. I AM AMAZED THEY CAN BE SO PROFOUNDLY STUPID AT MICROSOFT. WHAT IS THE POINT OF HAVING IT COMPATIBLE WITH WORD AND NOT BE ABLE TO EDIT DOCUMENTS!?!

Re: Office Mobile 2010 (WATCH OUT NO CUT AND PASTE)

Mike has Office Mobile 2010 (version 14.0000.23563) in his MightyROM and I can copy/paste using both keyboard commants (CTRL+C, CTRL+V) and using context menus (tap and hold)

What is the version number from the market? (you can go to menu>about to see it)

Re: Office Mobile 2010 (WATCH OUT NO CUT AND PASTE)

I have it installed on my Sprint TP2 running the stock 6.1 ROM. It does do copy/paste. Go to Menu - Edit - Make Selection - drag what you want to copy, then tap/hold the cursor and up comes another menu to copy/cut, et cetera. To paste, tap and hold where to paste. The method has not changed.

Is there really any upside if you are already running it in a precooked ROM? I am running MightyROM Full Force and its already cooked in.

Interesting. On this version there is no "about" under menu. This is the "official" version downloaded from their "Marketplace".

I discovered that if I make a "new" document. I have cut and paste in that document. But that in "old" .doc files I have cut and past greyed out. I tried a new save as and I did not get the cut and paste in the newly saved document.

I do not see a Ctrl on the keyboard anywhere? What are you using.

Whatever is going on with this version, it is not good.

Yes, that is what I had before I went to stock 6.5 and it worked in stock 6.5 also. This is in reference to the new version of 2010 Mobile, where I think they basically broke it for some strange reason.

I am not using a precook ROM, the stock Sprint ROM is what I am using. I suspect they cooked in an earlier version that retained normal functions.
