Fix SMS Editors and Send Button

Hello,

I've noticed a minor issue with the TP2 and WM6.5 and I am not quite sure who is the culprit, HTC or Microsoft, (probably the latter), but being that it is, the SMS Send Button:

Editor #1:
If you open your Text messages by way of the Today screen, scrolling over to the SMS tab, and then double tap on the active message to reply, It opens up a rather "Ornate" looking editor, with the Send button as a screen graphic on the far right of the screen.

Editor #2:
However, if instead of tapping on the message you wish to reply to, you select "All Messages" from the bottom and then select the message you wish to reply to, either with the Enter key from the keyboard, or with a tap on the screen, the editor is more reminiscent of the the WM6.1 editor, and the "Send" button is a simply Text button in the bottom left. This would not be such an issue, but in the first editor i described above, the same position held by the "Send" text button in the second editor is held by a text "Back" button in the first! Oivay, does this cause an issue.

Since I am coming from a 6.1 TP, I am VERY used to the Send Text button as described in Editor #2, which means a few times my text message have NOT been sent, because in the rapidity of typing and moving, I was in Editor #1 and hit the "back" button of the same location.

Now I truly do not mind one or the other, i can learn a new system, but it would helpful if I could Tweak (or pimp slap) the device into only choosing 1 of the editors no matter how I got to it, so I can learn the new one or stick with the old, not jump back and forth between the two.

Please tell me this is possible...if not it will be a rather difficult few weeks
Thanks

Re: Fix SMS Editors and Send Button

Ahh,
Yes. That's basically what I want. WM Messaging instead of HTC Messaging. Amusingly enough, it couldn't be as simple as a Registry Setting or Application link to say: Use Program A or Use Program B for a task, it seems almost viral in the integration. (Much like IE in Windows 98-XP).
The problem is that there are 18 pages of posts, and that would take upwards of 5 hours for me to sift through. (i've commented on other posts that PPCGeeks forums for some reason just work VERY slow on my system. still not sure why).

Methods of Starting a Text:
  1. People Tab, Select Contact, Send Message -> HTC Messaging
  2. SMS Tab, Double Tap Message -> HTC Messaging
  3. SMS Tab, All Messages , Tap message -> WM Messaging
  4. SMS Tab, Menu, Reply -> WM Messaging.

Fix:
  • #2 above, Point the double tap to open WM Messaging the same as stage 3 & 4.
  • #1 Above, this may require something more, since the People tab may be fully integrated with the HTC messaging. Which may mean I should change this to contacts or something else to avoid the people tab/htc sense 2.5 people "system" altogether.
If there is a 3 post topic somewhere that lists how to achieve those two solutions that would be awesome. Or at least if you can tell me on what page of posts in that thread you posted has the actual answer, that would be just as good.

Thanks

You've said that before, and it is not precisely the correct use of the idiom, because I'm not asking for two related/contradicting things. I'm asking for one thing: Can I eliminate the use of the HTC Messaging editor? Specifically, directly, nothing else, I just want the HTC Messaging Editor gone.

I'm asking for the fix. Right now, I have my workarounds, since as I pointed there are 4 ways to get to composing and sending an SMS message, I use the latter two. (perhaps i don't need to double tap, but it's habitual, the detail is inconsequential to the solution I'm looking for).

If you are saying that there is no way to eradicate the HTC messaging application completely, save by turning off HTC Sense, then just say so.

If there is a way to remove it entirely, so only the WM Messaging Editor is started when I try create an SMS message, then I'm requesting that someone list the steps or link directly to the fix, since PPCGeeks is so slow on my system, I don't have half a day to filter through 18 pages of posts. I'm using the Stock Sprint WM6.5 ROM for the TP2. This should be a simple yes/no answer, with the solution or "Sorry buddy, your screwed, the editor is intrinsic to HTC Sense". I'm okay with either answer.

Re: Fix SMS Editors and Send Button

You can remove it, Cook your own ROM without it.

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=118553

If you don't want to use the SMS tab in Sense turn off that tab and use The MS SMS program and add a Quick Link to it.

I think the problem is you know what you want but don't want to take the time to figure it out. sounds like you just want everything handed to you since this site is so slow for you. sorry if that sounds Mean but you state that in almost every post you make that you don't want to read 18 pages of info cause its slow. Every post you have made people have tried and tried to Help you including me. Instead of sounding like your better than the rest take some time to READ about the options that you are given and take some time searching.
