Honestly I dont believe what you or that guy at the repair store just said. My first tp2 i had for 6 months and i NEVER had a problem with the usb port. The reason i had to get a 2nd one is because of the keyboard. First thing i would try is a different battery. then i would think that If its charging while turned off it could MAYBE be a software problem. Have you installed any cabs lately? The one thing i would suggest is a hard reset or try a different rom.

From China, but I've been ordering eBay stuff from overseas for my cell phones for years, and never had a problem.

I actually ended up doing this. I bought one of those wall chargers that came with 2 batteries. So just waiting on it to get here from hong kong.

As for the phone, have had it like a month now. I bought it off someone from this site, in great condition not a scratch on it. I do not leave it plugged in except over night when i go to bed so that it would be charged for the next day. The charger is supposed to turn off to prevent over charging once full, so i dont think that booth tech is correct.

Plus why is it charging from the pc and the car but not both wall chargers, one being brand new? Was still shrink wrapped in the tp2 box. Honestly really confused about that. Cant figure it out.

Iv been using timberwolfs 7.0 sprint rom for about a week with no problems what so ever, no new cabs installed either. So dont think thats it, but will try a hard reset when he releases his newer rom.

Not a huge deal i guess as i can still charge it through the pc at night, just would suck if it got to the point where it wouldnt even sync anymore like my last phone the 800w. With that phone was my fault as i dropped it outside making it impossible to charge via the usb, this phone just happened for no real reason.

My wife had a problem like this also...dont know why but I went to start menu/settings/system/power and there is a box supposed to be checked to allow the phone to charge when attached to a pc. Somehow it was unchecked...Check it out and see if that helps..
Hope its that simple.

Does the phone charge when plugged into the wall socket adapter?

If so, you simply need to uncheck a setting the the battery / power directory. It should say something like "Do not charge when connected via USB".

The phone only charges via the ac adapter if the phone is turned off. The box for charging via pc is unchecked. It says to check if i DO NOT want to charge via usb.

check the usb cable first, then check any dust in the usb port or you replace a brand new usb port by other engineer

i got same problem on 838pro, i took off usb port and found there is oxidized, so i replaced a new usb port then everything works fine

Creaturecore, I have been experiencing the EXACT same thing for the last month. Mine is more random though as 1 week will be bad and then fixes itself for a week. It started happening right after my 9 month old baby was chewing on my power cord and then i used it. I know it is a problem with my usb port, but I can always charge it via pc or turn phone off and use charger. I have insurance, it is just that everytime I think about taking it to store it starts working again (I have to get motivated to flash back to stock and relock).

Anybody know the best way for me to try to "clean" my usb port?

Well my one usb plug is pretty messed up, but the other is brand new. So dont really know what it can be. Maybe some dirt, dust, lint something got stuck in the USB port like the other poster said. Who knows, just doesnt make sense to me that it would charge while turned off or through every other means turned on except from a wall outlet. I got 2 batteries on there way with a battery wall charger, ill try charging a new battery in the phone. Its about the only thing left i have to try.

Did you find a solution? I think that I have the same exact problem.

charges-via usb to computer (SLOW)
charges-via usb cable to ac wall socket ONLY when phone is off (this hints to a software setting)
charges-via usb cable to usb port on car a/c inverter (SLOW)

no charging-via a/c wall socket (using different usb cables, and usb-to-a/c adapters, direct a/c to usb cords)

I have tried numerous resets, battery removals, upgrade from 6.1 to 6.5, etc. etc.

ROM updates maybe??
