Re: Annoyance with HTC's Contacts Manager...is there a fix???
I Have to say this is a pain for me too. I have 3000 contacts, so just to index the right contact is a pain then once lost you start all over. You can find them better right from the phone application and keyboard. You open the phone and type the name or part of it, but you cannot edit the contact...... Does the iPhone do this better? A foregone conclusion.

It's really hard for software to keep track of where you are within a large scrolled list. Basically, it would have to record on a constant basis exactly where the pointer is at all times. Can you imagine what that would do to performance? For it to take you back to exactly where you were within the list, it would have to keep some sort of data file (or write to the registry, or whatever) each time you do something. Perhaps it could keep the pointer in the already-tight working RAM, but how does it know when you're done? Better to write to storage RAM, but then there's all the delay from reading and writing... So, why NOT use the quick and easy search function that will take you to the contact you want with a few simple taps on the hardware or on-screen keyboard? |

Re: Annoyance with HTC's Contacts Manager...is there a fix???
I totally agree with you...from a memory/speed point of view it does not make sense, it is just that my previous phone did what I am asking about, and so I miss it on this one!!! Thanks for your replies! I just did discover that I can open the keyboard from the home screen and start typing and it searches my contacts!
