With the New OCT tool I made it through the whole night at 729 without freezing. I bumped it up to 748 now. I tried 787 and I froze last night.

Using WM6.5/2.5
OC using netripper/Auto4.21
Polling 700ms

Has been stable at 787 for a few days. The only problem I have experienced (since lowering the polling rate) is when exiting from my GPS app (iGo8 ). Sometimes the device will lock-up and SOD after exiting GPS. Otherwise stable!

Trying 806 @ 700ms for a while...

1. Get & run the v2 cab from the here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=725290 at the bottom of the thread click on v2 HERE
2. Get & run the setcpuspeed 1d cab: do the settings to defaults & change later in registry with total commander regedit.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...81#post7330081 at the bottom click: SetCpuSpeed-1.0d.cab (138.8 KB, 249 views)

EASY BUTTON, (I’ve tried just about everything else, nothing keeps me stable & from locking until THIS)
Follow this post to the tee, except... this:
PerfomanceLevel = 35
Change to 37 (710) for start on TP2, as this was taken from a Blackstone, but works perfect on my TP2.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...60#post7498760

If you install setcpuspeed to storage card as advised above, you can pull out storage card & reboot to be able to regedit & lower your speed, otherwise, you'll have to reflash ROM. Some are able to do 40 & 41, depends on the silicone/manufacture of their CPU.

Apparently this only works while on AC? thought you can over clock it while on regular battery?

Overclock can be achieved on AC and battery power

Just a suggestion for those having issues finding their max speed. Typing with the keyboard seems to be one of the most strenious things you can do on the TP2, so if you're testing for max overclock, try sliding the keyboard out and typing a text message. It doesn't matter what you type, just that your hitting keys. Mine lock up at 747, but at 729, she'll run through and shows me she's stable there. Even running everything else all day my handset was fine, but typing would lock it up. Quick way of testing for those that don't know.

Oh, and I agree. Things really need to get a little more organized. I walked away for a week and now I have no idea what the heck is going on. :) Not uncommon for me though.

Re: Overclock TP2 in WM?

Energyrom 2138

Netrippers
Mortscript
Oc

750Mhz stable. Noticed decreased battery life. But it could be my usage of the internet/phone calls.

Feels like a brand new phone. Like an EVO. So much faster in everything that's extremely important. Much faster compared to stock 6.5 Sprint rom at stock Mhz speed.

Thanks a million to the script makers.

i am using oct 1.5 and have been running at 748.8, this is the best i have gotten it to work at and not freeze, has anybody gotten it to work any higher? my phone runs like a whole different phone now. Everything works faster even tethering seems to be running faster.

I've been running at 710. I tried 748, but in my opinion i lost RAM, and my battery depleted faster. I'm running OCT 1.5 with NRG's MaxSense Rom. Without overclocking i show 25% RAM available, but with overclock at 748 i drop to 15%, and it seems to leak faster. At 710 i dont see a noticable change in RAM or battery, and it still feels like a whole new phone. I'm looking forward to further improvements.

Using WM6.5/2.5
OC using netripper/Auto4.21
Polling 700ms

Getting 806 without lockup or freezing. Even the SOD I had before OC'ing is gone! Battery life has increase markedly since I upgraded to WM6.5. I can not only get through a day, but last night I forgot to plug-in the phone and it still had half a charge this morning!

Really adding to the life of this 1yr old device. I no longer have any desire to see "what's next" because, unless WM7 just kicks major a$$, there is just no more I could ask for. Oh yeah... true Flash capability... I still want that.

ROM: Stock Sprint WM6.5
OC Tool: OTC_V-1.5

Settings:
# of steps = 0
load max = 30
load min = 15
jump max = 50
jump min = 3

I am able to run @ 787.2 with no freezes or SOD :) I can get up to 806.4, but manilla and opera crash over and over, and I eventually lock up :(

LOVE the fact that I can turn it off from the GUI and boot to Android at any time vs having to set the safe mode time and reboot using Gen.Y DualBOOT WVGA v1.0.6.0 - Storage Card to boot to Android on startup :)

Those of you getting stable 806.4 using this OC method, what settings are you using?

I'm curretly running max speed at 787.2 with all other settings original.
I used the OCT_V1.5 tool.
Seems very stable but I'm still testing.
I'm kinda chicken to OC more than 50% over stock. ;)

Actualy, battery life best with Netripper Msm with script.
Second was with "setCpuSpeed" cab.

Worst battery for me was using OCT 1.5 cab
Dynamic or not.

I think it is because the OCT app keeps calculating and controlling device in sleep,
wheras the netripp app only overclock when unit it on.

See sig...

Stock Verizon MR2, never unlocked. I have experienced the memory leak from Sense 2.5, but I never went below approx 50M free. Finally turned Sense off yesterday and now I have approx 83M free. Didn't plug in again last night and still have 3 "bars" of battery left this morning!

hey, ive tried the exact same setup @ 787 but i noticed that sometimes opera would exit out for no reason. i also noticed that while listening to music via music tab, the phone will lock up, or reset usually after the screen turns off.

i can run oc_auto4.21 @ 787 just fine tho...

I don't doubt you at all! My battery life has increased by easily 30%. Not certain if it's MR2 update or the OC as they happened at the same time, but either way it's remarkable! (Hence my remarks)

I wonder if it has to do with the fact that with the processor OC'd it is getting things done quicker, so the multitasking load on the CPU is reduced...

guys having trouble with the OCT 1.5 and their tp2 freezing while sleep or playing MP3s. i seemed to have solved this issue by uninstalling all other OC apps (netripper's, SetCPUSpeed, scripts, etc). i havent had a SOD since then.

With the newest EnergyROM + OCT scaled down to 710 (from 787) my battery life has doubled!

CPU Max= 710.4

Re: Overclock TP2 in WM?

I've been using OCT for a few days now and playing with the settings. It seems that I always get the SOD after a minute or two when playing music and turn the screen off. This seemed to happen at any overclock speed, even in the low 600's. However, I found that no matter what my other settings were, the SOD only happnes when I have the # of steps at anything other than 0. It's as if nothing else made a difference, but as soon as I set the steps to zero, I get no SOD. None at all. And when I put it to 1 or 2 or anything other than zero, I always get the SOD after 1 or 2 minutes playing music. Could this be due to underclocking when the steps are set aboe zero?

I also get SOD when the screen goes off even whenever on the long conversation and it only happens when # of steps are anything but 0.

monmouthguy 08-23-2010 10:48 PM

Re: Overclock TP2 in WM?

So now I've been running my phone at 710.4 MHz on OCT with # of steps zero and no SOD at all. Phone runs like a champ, gets slightly warmer than usual and uses up battery a little more than normal. I don't really know how the overclock programs run, but it seems to me that the number of steps determines how low the processor speed drops when not being utilized. When OCT is not running, the processor stays at 528 MHz. When I run it and the number of steps is set to 1, the processor quickly drops to half the max speed. It seems that having the procesor drop to a lower speed when not in use can help the battery life a lot. I don't know if the SOD is related to either this underclocking or the simple fact that the processor changes speeds when usage changes. I would love to test it if I could have the processor speed drop to something other than half speed when not in use. I gues the equivalent of setting the number of steps to 1/2 or 1/3 so the speed doesn't drop so low and see if that helps the problem. I don't relly know, just speculating based on the way my phone has been acting. But so far, I'll deal with the faster battery usage and heat production to have my phone perform a bit better by leaving it at 710.4 and 0 steps.

Maxx134 08-23-2010 11:24 PM

Re: Overclock TP2 in WM?

For the OCT overclock, to avoid problems when phone sleeps,
Its prob best to disable the app with those shortcuts, before you turn your unit off..
That way the device will default to it's own scaling and operate normally when sleep.
Looks likesince it does not have this feature to disable when unit off, like "OCT Toggle" app (which didnt work for me).

Bottom line is our units have it's own auto scaling when off which is prob the best

Well, seems like the sweet spot on mine is max 768mhz with 2 steps and 2000ms interval. Load min 3, max 50, 15-30.
Using OCT_1.5 Tool.
With these settings I idle at 256mhz to save power then for little things it jumps to 384 and then Full Throttle at 768. :)
Very Stable, Very Fast, Very Happy!
