@ the guys that are getting a SOD while playing music if the screen turns off, try these settings. i had the same issues before trying these settings.
Speed = 768
Steps = 15
Load Max = 100
Load Min = 0
Jump Max = 80
Jump Min = 3
Interval = 1000

that seemed to solved the issue for me. What these settings do is have the cpu underclock to under 50Mhz when not in use but immediately jump to 768 when in use. i hope this helps you guys.

i played around with OCT and found that Nitrogen required ~350mhz to operate. With the default OCT settings of 5 steps the phone drops to like 125mhz with the screen off - this is why the phone freezes.

the dynamic portion of OCT would be much more useful if you could define a "low speed" along with the overclock speed - and then the number of steps between those 2 settings.

Re: Overclock TP2 in WM?

I get the SOD when I play music, so I intercepted the long power press, do nothing with it, and instead have the shutdown stuff pop up on long mute button press. This way, when music is playing, I can just do a long press on the power, turn the screen on, and get to the screen and do whatever.

ROM: Medium Hill CHT 1.8
OC Tool: OTC_V-1.5

Settings: 710Mhz
Interval 2000
# of steps = 2
load max = 50
load min = 3
jump max = 30
jump min = 15

No freezes, screen off or on, music plays w/o issue.. internet is fine.. but will not clock past 710.. i try 729.. freezes in minutes.

Settings:
# of steps = 0
load max = 30
load min = 15
jump max = 50
jump min = 3

Thanks,

All I needed was step four, the addition of \andboot\. It worked first time. I tried elsewhere to get advice, but to no avail.

Thanks.

Re: Overclock TP2 in WM?

Just thought I'd chime in for my input and encouragement for those not sure about doing this.

I am FAR from a phone expert and when I looked at some of the OC threads posted I was a bit daunted and wasn't sure that I wanted to go down this slope because it seemed a bit more involved than I wanted to get into with my phone. I've been flashing my phone for a long while and know how to do regedits, etc but that's just because I know how to follow directions.

Let me tell you guys, if you are a novice and still on the border of doing this, DO IT! It's really easy to complete on your phone and it makes the phone so much better to use because it becomes so much more responsive. I'm using OC Auto at 768 and I have been running for a week with absolutely NO side-effects. Things are just so much smoother on the phone and you can get what you want done without any of the previous lag/frustration, and it's EASY.

Thanks to all who put their hard work into getting this done!

Lovin this OCT1.5
I'm having some great batt life and OC speeds too!

Here's my setup:
Code:

Settings: 729.6Mhz
Interval 1000
# of steps = 3
load max = 35
load min = 15
jump max = 70
jump min = 3

Alright something weird...
with my phone on the stock 6.5 ROM with the phone locked I could OC to 787 with zero problems. Now that I have unlocked my phone, flashed an Energy rom, ran task 29, and flashed back to stock, I cannot get a stable OC at that level or the 2 below it using the exact same tools as before WTF!!

Thats why I don't bother to wonder why so many people are happy just using the stock ROMs...
The Stock Sprint ROM has had some pretty suprising graphics benchmarks for a while now. They have some optimizations or driver combinations that turn out ridiculous scores.

OK. I am where you were. I'd like to try it, but I'm where you were...nervous but interested. But what exactly did you do? Which program or programs did you use. What's the interface like...easy or hard to comprehend? I don't even know what SOD is (although I presume it's a hard freeze).

here's a simplified xplan just to try out OCing: forum.ppcgeeks.com/1948750-post7854.html

sod ... screen of death

I'm now running very stable at 729 mHz with no SODs with OCT v1.5. See my settings HERE.

As an added bonus, I am experiencing improved battery life! \\:D/

I've had a few days getting anoyed with lock ups and trouble with Resco.
Anyone tell me how to remove all trace of OC_auto_v4.21 and Msm7kCpuSpeed.
Just uninstall the cab and gui?
Can I just uninstall the mortscript too?

My phone was fiine, but I talked myself into extra speed and now it sucks for SOD's and about 4 hrs battery life in stand by!

pull out the SD card, reset, then uninstall.

Try the new overclock method in my sig.

If U want longest battery U will hav to flash a Vin or Sharkie or MedHill rom, those are really popular and good BUT,
I also see there are like 5 more new roms from other cooks
I havent even tried yet so really you gotta just try it and flash another rom.

I consider myself pretty neutral, & try dif roms wen bored.
but what was my fav in past is also my worst battery suker,
Energyrom, tipping near 800Ma burst on acbpower meter, on 6.5 rom,
When most roms never reach 600ma spikes.

Overclocking should not make much difference as it is not adjusting the voltage settting,
The fact that you are getting SOD means U R on an older rom,
Or you are not implementing the app properly(too high or both apps at same time)
and not using the SOD cab I made, which helps 50%

so if you hav a severe battery issue,
the overclock app probably brought it to light.
I doubt you will resolve issue just by uninstalling....

Re: Overclock TP2 in WM?

I'm using a VIN rom, but it was from way back in Oct 09, so thayt may be part of it.
I found it to be stable and went back to it in feb this year.
I use SPB so the UI doesn't represent what the rom looks like, it just worked so I stuck with it.

Guess I'll get the new clean VIN rom and build it all back up again. then re-try the overclocking.

@maxx134 do you notice that your phone is not as snappy using winmospeed? i switch to it from msm7k (w/ ocauto4.2), and the same 768 setting does not seem to be as quick.

Ditched the overclock and all issues are gone. Resco now uploads to facebook again (main concern) and battery life is back.

Getting a free Pre to play with and while it's activated, I'll try some new ROM's on the TP2.
Thanks for the help.

Yes that is because the new WinMoSpeed app is not as intensiv as it lets the OS manage speed when not in use,s
Whweas the ocauto4.2 is actually a script keeping the msm7k locked down from deviating the native OS speed.

Since you also used this app which has constant running script, I assuming that would have played a part in your issues, so I would suggest trying another overclock like the new winMoSpeed as an experiment to see if that works for you.

I have mainly used the "setcpuspeed" app in past as it also used less resourses than the script methods.
Now I am trying the WinMoSpeed app but also it seems the least hard on the system.
but also not getting the speed I have seen before.
actually overclocking one step lower ran smoother than my top speed.

I am going to do a FULL stock rom/radio flash to see if overclocking can be increased.

After looking at my brothers epic android unit,
I feel not atisfied at my speed limit, with my old unit at 748Mhz and not fast enough..
Evry newer rom build seems nothn but "smoke and mirrors" as I see no real benefit in speed.
so I will also do a test with a stock 6.1 rom, and/or a custom 6.1
As long as I can have my CookieHomeTab & sensse I dont care anymore about latest OS Builds.](*,)

Re: Overclock TP2 in WM?

ok, that explains it. after i made the comment i noticed that the speed was on par. actually i was able to successfully step up to 787. i'm very happy with winmospeed.

I have a t-mobile touch pro 2 running 6.5 and tweaked it with regedit and overclock @ 768 and the phone responds faster but downloading is still slow is there something for that?
