A-GPS works on google maps with TP2, Not with TP. I think that says alot.

That seems true. But even w/o assistance, my new TP2 GPS is way better than my old TP1.

This unassisted mode is good if you are in a foreign country and have no data connection or doesn't want to use one.

All those people with all these phones claiming to have GPS (which a lot are just only A-GPS only) don't know what they are missing....
