Re: Microsoft Active Sync 4.5 and Windows 7 on home computer
Windows 7 has Windows Mobile Device Center built in. Just plug in the USB cord and Windows takes care of the rest. Don't install AS 4.5 on your Windows 7 computer.

You're Welcome! Yep, just plug it in. MS makes it easy to talk to MS products, but not much else.

Go to download.microsoft.com. In the search box, type in WMDC and search. You're looking for WMDC (Windows Mobile Device Center) 6.1. Download and run. When complete, just plug in your phone. Computer will do the rest. On your phone, it should default to ActiveSync. If not select ActiveSync.

Re: Microsoft Active Sync 4.5 and Windows 7 on home computer
ya. i had to do the same thing. i had to download 2 items though. first i had to download a authenticity checking tool to verify that w7 was a legit copy, than i could download the wmdc. it didnt come preinstalled as earlier posted. i just figured it was because i AM running a bogus copy.

Might have been. It will ask for validation but if you have already validated, it will go straight thru after you click validate. Gotta thank MS for making the built in WDMC work after downloading the app. They knew it was an issue with Vista and still left it out of Win7. |
