Re: Microsoft Active Sync 4.5 and Windows 7 on home computer

Windows 7 has Windows Mobile Device Center built in. Just plug in the USB cord and Windows takes care of the rest. Don't install AS 4.5 on your Windows 7 computer.

You can thank me for that. I was just sitting around wanting to sync my phone easily. Then it hit me! *cue reenactment* Microsoft should make syncing my device to Windows easier!. So I called them up and BAM! Just plug in your devices supplied USB cord and Windows Mobile Device Center pops up to handle everything. Simple! And don't worry, I made sure to call my mom and take credit for this.

You're Welcome! Yep, just plug it in. MS makes it easy to talk to MS products, but not much else.

I plugged it in and no options came up on my computer but on my TP2 it had 3 options (option one had a circle to the left filled in)

1. Active Sync-sync with outlook

2. Disk Drive- faster file transfer

3. Internet sharing-use phone as modem

I honestly don't know what to do.
If anyone can help I'd appreciate. Thanks

Go to download.microsoft.com. In the search box, type in WMDC and search. You're looking for WMDC (Windows Mobile Device Center) 6.1. Download and run. When complete, just plug in your phone. Computer will do the rest.
On your phone, it should default to ActiveSync. If not select ActiveSync.

ya. i had to do the same thing. i had to download 2 items though. first i had to download a authenticity checking tool to verify that w7 was a legit copy, than i could download the wmdc. it didnt come preinstalled as earlier posted. i just figured it was because i AM running a bogus copy.

Might have been. It will ask for validation but if you have already validated, it will go straight thru after you click validate.

Gotta thank MS for making the built in WDMC work after downloading the app. They knew it was an issue with Vista and still left it out of Win7.
