I've read under the Mighty ROM thread that Sprint made a change in the 6.5 release so that the simple registry change doesn't work anymore. Make sure you try something more recent than the 3/19 release date.

i was able to use the same registry changes i made with the stock 6.1 sprint rom on the stock 6.5 rom- no problems tethering

Is WMWifiRouter free? Where do you get that cab? I thought the HTC version is free.
