it's not a 6.5 issue, its a sense issue. try disabling sense for a month and see if the problem comes back.

ok guys and girls.
why not give titanium a try (turn off sense) and see if these issues persist. Pretty much everyone in here is complaining of some part of sense freezing up. sense 2.5 is a serious memory hog and these phones really don't have the memory to handle it.
shell out the 20 bucks for mobile shell. you won't be sorry.

i think you are the first person I've heard this happening on a non-sense tp2.
very interesting. so it doesn't like text messages period.
i only get about 300 texts a month, so it is not an issue for me.

I am having a lot of issues too and they all seem to be sense 2.5 related. I have done the following:
-flashed multiple times to the sprint 6.5 rom
-flashed to MightyROM 6.5.x/Sense 2.5
-Clear storage after flash
-Soft boot after clear storage
-Install NOTHING

Everything works okay right after you soft boot and have nothing installed.
Then I activesync to my work exchange account and pull over 260 contacts, about 350 calendar entries and have tried just 1 day of mail (50 items), and a dozen tasks. ZERO texts!

After this, the phone is so slow between texts, or in the people tab...sometimes waiting 2 minutes for the phone to wake back up...or sense just never coming back at all and you are stuck with whatever was in the graphics buffer last. Even scrolling through my inbox or contacts is just sluggish all the time.

I've noticed that in taskmanager under the process view, its always either manilla.exe or filesys.exe taking a lot of CPU (70-95%).

Luckily, I used sprite backup under the 6.1 sprint rom, so I have flashed back to 6.1 sprint and restored and have a solid working phone for the week again. I would love to get the 6.5 sprint rom working somehow. Hard to believe that so many people are complaining about this same condition across different threads, but I have not seen any real solutions except to replace sense with some other shell.

Thanks in advance.

I have had this freezing issue using Mighty Rom and NRGZ' Rom...any other sugestions?

Well,
I've been running without the GT2L cab and its honestly running smooth right now. I dont want to imply its his cab as he does a lot of good / hard work and I used his cab for 6.1 and it genuwinely made it better, but as of now, from my clear storage, the txting has virtually no lags / freeze ups. If it stays this way, I will PM him and see what maybe throwing his cab off? One thing that comes to mind is the at0m display drivers? I know the sms gave me real fits when switching portrait / landscape, etc. Now it's responsive on that too. Will keep you guys posted.

This problem has to do with how Sense deals with a large number of contacts. I don't think they took into account that the TP2 is actually a real business phone and users may have more than 50 contacts or emails at one time. If you turn off Sense and use Titanium, the problem disappears completely. I have 650+ contacts on my phone and before syncing it to Exchange server, Sense worked flawlessly. As soon as I did the ActiveSync, I was done. Please email HTC Support as the more of us that do that them more likely they will fix it quickly. Sense is a genuine disappointment.

I think you've hit it on the head. I'm having the same issues, and I don't have thousands of saved texts. But I noticed that I could hit the Windows button when the text portion was frozen and disable sense. Then, things seemed to pick back up. I could then reenable sense and it would work fine again for awhile. The only thing that seems to completely speed it back up is to totally clear out SMS/MMS messages. I love the sense but I may try the newer SPB Mobile Shell myself. Until the TP2 that's what I always used.

So do we all have the same problem here? I'm going to clear up my sms (2.5k) and contacts (400+), and test. i'll report back later.
