First off change your phone under your info because it says xv6800 still. I haven't had an issue. I say do a hard reset and see if some software you install causes an issue.

Try going into USB TO PC settings panel, and unchecking "Enable Faster Data Synchronization."
My wife's TP2 would not connect unless I unchecked that....Apparently HER TP2, uses different drivers than mine? also make sure you select ACTIVESYNC

If the hard rest doesn't work, try using a different cable you might have already but you didn't say you did so im just assuming you haven't. Because your ROM or Win Mo version shouldn't keep it from charging with it on or syncing

VZ OEM upgrade is EVIL!! Two of my friends wanted to stay on stock rom but they had the same problem as you. I finally convinced them to unlock and flash Mighty rom.. They are both very content.

could be a hardware issue. i had the same problem with my Sprint TP2. 3 different computers wouldn't recognize the phone when connected. Tried all the tips/tricks and nothing worked. I was able to sync via BT.

Is that a free replacement? Seems with sprint any malfunction with the USB port is considered user damage nowadays. Which means they stiff you with the $100 deductible and you gotta go through Assurion. Weak sauce.
