Wirelessly posted (HTC Touch Pro 2: Opera/9.80 (Windows Mobile; WCE; Opera Mobi/WMD-50430; U; en) Presto/2.4.13 Version/10.00)

I have a PC that I want to use to browse the internet, but it doesn't have a wifi adapter, and my internet is much faster than tethering. Is there any way to use my phone as a wifi adapter so myPc can connect to my wifi network?

Re: TP2 as Wifi adapter? (But not tethering)

I'm pretty sure WMWifiRouter has that function built in... but I agree, USB wireless adapters are pretty much free...

Re: TP2 as Wifi adapter? (But not tethering)

Seems to me like OP is asking if he can use his TP2 to behave as if it were a USB wifi adapter, since he doesn't have one. Unfortunately, I don't know the answer to that question, though I do know that 3rd party products (e.g., PDANet) will allow you to get internet on your PC through your phone's native 3G connection.

Yes, this can be done on WMWiFiRouter when selecting the WiFi > USB option.

Instead of the 3G > USB (Tether) or 3G > Wifi (WiFi Sharing)

Re: TP2 as Wifi adapter? (But not tethering)

WMWifiRouter uses your data connection on your phone and turns it into a router..

Have you looked at any of the current versions of WMWiFiRouter???

It has WAY more functionality than that.

From www.wmwifirouter.com:

  • Share your cellular data/internet connection over Wi-Fi
  • Connect any Wi-Fi-enabled device with ad-hoc mode support
  • Supports multiple devices at the same time
  • Easy to use: for most users, getting up and running is a matter of a single click
  • Power saving: works even when the device is suspended!
  • IP, Wi-Fi and cellular configuration built-in
  • 64- and 128-bit WEP encryption support
  • Automatic reconnect on connection loss
  • Compatible with almost all recent Windows Mobile devices
  • Distinction between basic and advanced users
  • Keep-Alive support to prevent automatic disconnects for specific carriers
  • Battery monitoring and management
  • Support for sharing your cellular data connection over Bluetooth and USB
  • Support for sharing your Wi-Fi connection to USB, and vice versa
  • Support for sharing your WiMAX connection to USB and Bluetooth
  • Multi-language support
