Re: Sprint TP2 battery life sucks
IMO you should return the phone for a replacement. My Sprint TP2 never runs hot. GPS works very well. I use NRGZ's ROM and my battery last all day (7am - 11pm) under moderate use (weather updates, email, stocks, text, etc.).

Re: Sprint TP2 battery life sucks
That's not really an option...long story short got a new phone (Craigslist), bricked it, got it replaced at sprint for free because their computer are slow, so unless i want to pay $120, I'm keeping this phone.

Re: Sprint TP2 battery life sucks
Do this man. I did it and my battery last close to 2 days, and thats with more than normal use.
1. Flash back to the stock ROM. I know, I know, but flash back and stay there. 2. Install the no push internet cab. That way your phone is not downloading unnecessary data. 3. use a registry editor to hack the battery: this can be found in the tp2 hacks sticky. after that you should be good! |

Re: Sprint TP2 battery life sucks
OK so I think I'm getting closer to the problem here. Nothing listed in your post worked, BBHoliday. Here's the story:
I upgraded from Touch Diamond to TP2 a month ago now. My Diamond's battery only lasted about a half a day, but I figured this was because I kept it attached to the computer all the time (texting from an Outlook plugin). So I got the new TP2 and even with the stock ROM, it'd have the same crappy battery issues as listed in the first post. It would seem that after restarting the phone it would be fine for a variable period of time. This latest time it worked perfectly for a week with 2-day battery life, then just yesterday started dying quickly again. I was about to give up in desperation and assume that I'm just cursed with battery-killing hands, but I had an epiphany last night: I had not plugged it into my computer in the week it worked perfectly. And looking back, I can (roughly) estimate the time my battery started dying quickly to the time that I switched from XP to Win7. So this thread is now located in the wrong place, but can anyone shed light on this issue? Maybe an Activesync/WMDC bug that causes it to hog memory on the phone after being connected to a computer? In the meantime I'll just connect it only often enough to sync contacts and restart the phone after. |

Re: Sprint TP2 battery life sucks
Couldn't be worse than my old TP's battery life. I couldn't even get through the day if I didn't charge it midway or have a second battery on me.

Re: Sprint TP2 battery life sucks
Your issue doesn't sound like it has anything to do with the phone or WMDC. It sounds like the plugin you run is causing some problems...
I have no battery life issues and I work my device to death. I had to keep 3 batteries on standby for my TP1 just to give a comparison... The devices generally get hot from a lot of radio use or high CPU usage. The texting plugin you are using or whategver else is more than likely working a radio or the CPU. Also when a Li-Ion battery gets hot their output drops signifigantly. So a hot battery will go from hours of power to minutes on my laptop (and from days to mere hours on our cells). Try running Stock, as mentioned, and not running your plugins via WMDC. If those plugins fix the issue yell at the coder to fix the bug.

Hmm, I did just reinstall it when I reconnected the phone to the computer, at which time it started being weird again, so I'll uninstall it and see how it goes. |

Re: Sprint TP2 battery life sucks
There were also some issues with particular versions of custom roms that were built with the Verizon base files, including Mightyrom. If you had Bluetooth on but never connected it to a device it would kill the battery in 5 or 6 hours. The most recent versions of Mighty have fixed that, i don't know about Energy.
BTW, I'm using Mightyrom 2-10 and with moderate use in good reception areas I will still be at %80 charge at the end of the day. Also, I have no problems with my GPS. It works fine even inside the house and usually shows me in the correct area of the house, well within 20 meter accuracy. Be sure you set quickGPS to update.
