Re: sprint 5g cap on TP2?
If you're going to post a quote, why not link to it?
The 5GB cap is for Mobile Broadband. There is no cap for data use on the phone. Here's the link: (Sprint Terms & Conditions) At least 2 or 3 people have posted in this thread that they have exceeded 5GB usage on their phone with no consequences. I believe them. I have not seen a single post in this thread by someone who has exceeded 5GB data usage on their phone and gotten a charge. |

Oh and by the way look at this part. Data: Services are not available with all Sprint phones. Usage is calculated on a per kilobyte basis and is rounded up to the next whole kilobyte. Rounding occurs at the end of each session or each clock hour and, at which time we deduct accumulated usage from your plan, or assess overage or casual usage charges. You are responsible for all data activity from and to your device, regardless of who initiates the activity. Estimates of data usage will vary from actual use. Your invoice will not separately identify the number of kilobytes attributable to your use of specific sites, sessions or services used. Premium content (games, ringers, songs, etc.) priced separately. Services are not available for use in connection with server devices or host computer applications, other systems that drive continuous heavy traffic or data sessions, or as substitutes for private lines or frame relay connections. Except with Phone-as-Modem plans, you may not use a phone (including a Bluetooth phone) as a modem in connection with a computer, PDA, or similar device. We reserve the right to deny or terminate service without notice for any misuse or any use that adversely affects network performance. Availability of downloadable or streaming content is subject to change, including but not limited to television channels and radio stations. If user is not subscribed to a data included plan or add-on, pay-as-you go charges are incurred when using data applications and services. And just in case you wanna run it under PAM Data Usage Limitation (Mobile Broadband Cards, USB Modems, Embedded Modems and Phone-As-Modem): The amount of data transmitted over our network is measured in kilobytes (KB), megabytes (MB) or gigabytes (GB). Sprint reserves the right to limit throughput speeds or amount of data transferred; and to deny, terminate, modify, disconnect or suspend service if usage either exceeds (a.) 5GB/month in total, unless specified otherwise or (b.) 300MB/month while off-network roaming. 1024KB equal 1MB. 1024MB equal 1GB. I read multiple quotes, but people were not providing their source. I was able to find the source for the post above regarding Mobile Broadband, but I can find no source for the statement that data access on my phone is limited to 5GB. I think you need to read more carefully. My statement is that data access on my phone is not capped. I do understand that Sprint has the right to manage their network to prevent the abuses that would impact their customer service level agreements (implied or stated), but Sprint says nothing about capping data access on my phone. The 5GB limit relates to data cards and using your phone as a modem. That does not limit streaming 10GB of video to my phone: it limits streaming 10GB of video to my laptop through my phone. I have never seen a single post in any online forum, nor have I seen a single news report where someone said they were charged or denied service for using more than 5GB of data on their phone. Can you show me any examples? I don't mean that as a challenge -- I really would like to see explicit examples. So far, all I'm hearing is people freaking out without providing any facts. I have found multiple posts where users say they regularly exceed 5GB. The only examples of extra charges or denials of service relate to exceeding the stated 5GB limit while tethering or using a data card. Last edited by jigwashere; 02-18-2010 at 06:21 PM. |
