260 error with Sprint, completely lost.

Okay so I have a sprint phone, and I obviously tried to use the 6.5 ROM updates on on phone, and none of them worked. I keep getting a 260 error. But before I did that I read all the threads on unlocking the security (which was already done when I bought the phone..?) then flashing with a radio..or whatever..but I'm still getting the 260 error..so what exactly needs to be done to get this working? Its pretty depressing that I cant figure this out..and my connection to the internet keeps dropping every time i reset my phone from an unsuccessful update..

did you buy the phone from an individual or from sprint? im thinking based on that statement/question, you're under the impression that your phone is unlocked. the answer is yes and no. your SIM device is somewhat unlocked (can only use it outside the US but not while in the country using at&t and such). but to flash to another ROM, you'll have to unlock your radio.

read this thread regarding unlocking your radio to flash to a custom ROM:

I bought it from sprint..and I went to settings>all settings>security, and it said "Your phone is SIM Unlocked." So I assumed it was how it was supposed to be. Btw I checked there before I posted this thread. I still get the error..Ill redo everything though, see if anything changes.

Re: 260 error with Sprint, completely lost.

A SIM Lock and a CID lock are NOT the same thing!

A SIM lock determines what SIM cards you can use. That is unlocked out of the box and can be check in Security as you pointed out.

A CID lock determines what ROMs your device can flash. This NEVER comes unlocked out of the box!

Read the ROM Flashing information as a starting point... You need to run the HardSPL to remove the CID lock...

Re: 260 error with Sprint, completely lost.

Ahh I see..I figured as much, it couldn't have been that easy..So I've read that and as it says, If you get the 260 error then put the SSLP manual on ur phone and extract and you will get a black screen..Here is what happens for me. I get a msg saying, "This program is from an unknown publisher. Running it may be possibly harm your device"..after I continue the screen freezes.

I waited for a while for it to turn black, never happened..so I took the batter out..I'm still at a loss..Ill have to keep playing with this, thanks for the help so far.
