The phone is GSM Unlocked for Every Country Outside the United States
right out of the box. Nothing you need to do besides halting your sprint
service if you want to reduce your bill.. But ya dont have to.
Just come back to the States and the TP2 will pickup Sprint no problemo

Thank you so much! If I'm on a family plan could I halt just the one line for 3 weeks out of the month, to reduce the bill? Also does it matter what ROM I have on the phone at the time? Thanks again!

Rom does not matter as far as i have seen.
I would recommend playing with the roms to see
what you like best. I have tried a few.. Mightyrom
is what i have right now.. Good stuffs =D>

And yes, You would save some monies if they will halt the service.

Re: visiting thailand, would TP2 with Mighty Rom work there?

Thanks for all the great input everyone. One Question I still have is about the data usage in Thailand. Say I get a sim card that has a certain data limit on it. How would I make sure that TP2 is not using data in the background without me knowing. I dont need weather updates etc or anyhting else that periodically gets on the internet to download data. All I need is data on demand like using google maps or looking something else. Is there a master setting that I can set and not worry about using up all my data.
Thanks

Should consolidate all the international posts. I have been using the Sprint data option and it is only $2 a day for several days now in 3 GSM countries. You can use Skype for voice for a total solution at a cheap price.

As far as the reduction of your bill, it really wouldn't be a possibility other than actually changing your plan and halting at that point. Family plans are shared plans, so the MRC is for the 1st 2 lines. Unless, your line is 1 of 3 of more then there wouldn't be a change in your monthly charge. The ROM your running makes no difference. Good luck.

Re: visiting thailand, would TP2 with Mighty Rom work there?

Just got back from my trip and wanted to update everyone. I ended up going to Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia and used different sim cards in those countries. The whole process was very simple, just plug the sim card in and restart the phone. It ran an auto setup at restart and worked great. In thailand I went with a Dtac card with voice and data on it. I got 50 hrs worth of unlimited internet coverage for 200 Baht ( $1=32 Baht). The coverage is great and it even worked on the islands. the internet speeds were not very good but it was fine for casual browsing and checking emails etc. I would highly recommend getting a data plan as I was able to us wifirouter to get internet acess almost everywhere. It came in handy while buying train tickets and making online reservations without having to go an internet cafe. I also got another local sim card while in Malaysia and then a different one in Singapore with data access.
Hope that helps someone out.
