Re: Sceen light goes on and off during calls when touching your face
I have the same annoying problem. The screen often flickers on and off during calls. I recall a few weeks ago one of the older Mighty Roms I didn't have the issue, but it could have been a coincidence.

Re: Sceen light goes on and off during calls when touching your face
A couple people were asking how the proximity sensor works. (I'm an EE and I did the electrical design to interface the sensor with the phone on another phone out in the market.)
The sensor can be a variety of different types. Some may have an IR LED (emitter) attached to the sensor so that it senses a certain frequency, others can be simple light sensors, depending on the application (not a phone) it could be a hall effects sensor (this is probably how the sensing of whether the phone is open or closed is detected), etc. I was testing mine out (it seems very responsive, turns off an inch away from the face!) and I used both my finger and a piece of paper, so I think that it is a simple light sensor. |

I believe there is a setting under "backlight" or "power" that gives you the option to turn it off. maybe even "phone" settings where you're able to shut off the "face-down speaker-on" option |

Re: Sceen light goes on and off during calls when touching your face
If you open your dailer and call voice mail, leave your phone on the table and cover the ear piece with your finger the screen will go off, remove your finger and bang screen is back on. It's a light sensor. Love this feature, on my TP1 answering a call would always change my digital clock to analog!
