Unlocking this, unlocking that....

So I've come from the Mogul to the TP to the TP2 now and was wondering if someone might be able to answer some questions. Is there any advantage to unlocking any part of the phone if I don't plan on going around and cooking roms or using cooked roms? I thought that flashing the phone after unlocking it did something like free up memory or something like that, but I'm not sure now with the TP2. I've read a lot of the stickied forums, but was just wondering if someone could give a quick pros and cons list of unlocking if I wasn't planning on using anything but a stock rom. I just wish Sprint would come out with WM6.5 with Sense UI so I could have some of the extra nice features.

It unlocks your phone so you can use an unsigned ROM. That is the only advantage. So if you stick with a signed ROM like the official WM6.5 release for Sprint, there is no point in unlocking.
