Re: Is Windows Mobile Vanishing?
I actually like my WM TP2 better then the iphone or android... I like how easy it was to get 6.5 installed and all the mods and it is really fast... I dont like that on the iPhone when the battery dies you are stuck as you cant replace it.. but I have 3 batteries for my Tp2

I dont cook "cabs" hoping my phone will run better.... I dont want to "reset "every 3-4days... I dont want to "wait" for my browser to load up. I dont want to do"registry tweaks" I dont need to install "apps" without permission from the "big-brother" when half of them dont do what they are meant for. I am not even going into" if Tp2 Os feels and look better" I will simply like to state that Touch Pro2 is an awesome device on a garbage, outdated Os! |

I don't "cook cabs" hoping the phone will run better either. Like I said, my ROM is fast and stable. You have to wait for the browser to load on every platform. This isn't Star Trek, lol. It might load a couple seconds faster or whatever, but you're waiting on any device. You don't have to do registry tweaks. It's nice to have that option though if you want to. For example- I tweaked the registry to change my SMS windows input size. I didn't have to, but it was nice that I could if I wanted to. What do you mean apps don't do what they are meant for? You mean like how the sling player app got rejected by Apple and they had to take the 3G out of it to get it approved? Yeah, I would say a sling player app that doesn't work over the internet most definitely doesn't do what it was meant to. And go ahead and get into the interface if you want. My SPB Mobile Shell interface is way better than the iPhone interface. It feels better and it looks better. Why? Because I cutomized it exactly how I wanted it. I wasn't forced to adapt to one that didn't quite work for me. I set it up designed from the ground up to make my style (or workflow) go smoother and easier. And that can NEVER happen on an iPhone. Enjoy your WM platform... To each his own. but think about it why is WM losing it real bad if it has such awesome features that you just described! It Not USER-FRIENDLY! I think that is what defines a successful OS plateform(which Apple and android have!) Though i agree i would have thrown TP2 out of window..if it was not for SBP shell... it rocks man! |

#1: Marketing. When is the last time you saw a Windows Mobile commercial? There are probably 1000 iPhone commercials for every 1 Windows Mobile commercial on tv (at least in the USA). #2: Pricing. The iPhone is only $200. Everyone knows this. The Touch Pro 2 costs around $350. You can get it for $200 on Verizon, and Verizon stayed sold out for over a month when they first released it. And this was with no advertising whatsoever, and no stores even had a demo unit to show customers. #3: Data pricing. When the first iPhone was released, the data plan was cheaper than on any other smartphone. It costs the same now, but they got everyone onto contracts with that cheaper data plan (and contracts are required on all new iPhone plans on AT&T). #4: AT&T's aggressive sales. I actually had AT&T up until a couple months ago when I switched to Sprint. I used to get bill inserts all the time offering me an iPhone for $25 if I would sign a contract extension. And this was before I was even eligible for upgrade pricing on any other phone. I doubt I am the only one who got these inserts, and I am pretty sure they resulted in plenty of iPhone sales. NONE of that stuff ever happened on ANY Windows Mobile device (at least in the USA). And whn you look at it- just any ONE of them would probably be anough to help iPhone sales. But ALL of them combined are surely enough to have a huge impact on sales. I won't even get into all the idiots just buying iPhones because it's now the "cool" phone to have (it's the new RAZR). But it became the "cool" phone because of the 4 reasons I listed. It's hillarious how many idiots said stupid things like "I don't care about copy and paste anyway. I don't need it." And then when they got copy and paste, they acted like their phone was the greatest thing since sliced bread. I suspect that same thing will happen when the iPhone is able to watch a slingbox using the internet. |

OMG!! This is so true! My poseur brother in law who knows nothing about 'working the tech' & is basically a gas & go doctor type said that very thing! LOL! There is a reason it's called smartphones vs. iBringPhoneIntoGeekBarToGetHelpOnHowToUse. btw, he's the protypical nitwit who buys a Mac for the flat keyboard, white form factor & big LCD jsut to surf on the web. So glad my sister is the smart one...she actually runs the house including the tech support in that relationship! LOL=D> |

That said, there is a comfort to knowing that the world is safe & easy in the little 4x4 square matrix that Apple or whoever else has given to their consumers. |
