yes i did admit it sucks...let me make myself clearer, it sucks out the box, but once a custom ROM is flashed i have no issues ...yes WinMo is a lil dull but the customization of a WinMo is far more than wat is customizable on an iphone...all in all every1 has their own pref in fones, but in my opinion the iphone is WAY OVERRATED!!!

This is what some of YOU folks dont get... no one here seems to think there are other people that own these phones outside of ppcgeeks and xda. The majority of people DONT flash custom roms on these phones.. the majority of people DONT want to have to put a ton of tweaks on a phone for it to function how they want it. The masses want a phone that works the way it should right out of the box and that is one of the main reasons the iphone is destroying the competition.. because it does what it needs to do as soon as you cut it on. And the same with droid, the number of people that root it are small but with the speed of that thing it isnt even necessary.

I used to do the rom flashing thing but it got old.. not to mention there is almost always some kind of bugs in those roms.. especially the 6.5 ones with sense 2.5... the sprint ones dont even have mms through manila yet people are willing to deal with it just because. People lie, numbers dont.

Re: getting tp2 today...thinking about iphone..whos have both?

I have owned the iPod Touch for 14 months and the Sprint Touch Pro 2 for 3 months. I believe they are both great devices and hope to give fair comparison with differentiators.

Sprint Touch Pro 2:
Pros
-This has the best keyboard I have used on a smartphone.
-This has the best screen I have seen on a smartphone. The 800x480 screen is terrific for web browsing.
-The TouchFlo3D interface is terrific. At first I was relunctant but got used to it and really like it.
-There are apps to allow it to tether to a home PC for internet access at no additional charge. There is also an app to turn the smartphone into a mobile hotspot (Wifi radio). This comes in handy when I want to use my netbook and there is no free Wifi.
Cons
-It requires a soft reset every once in a while. For me this is due to 3G access rather than apps freezing.

iPod Touch:
Pros
-This has the best music player I have seen on a gadget.
-There are some portable games that are pretty good, i.e. Crash Racing, Monkey Ball.
-Many apps are free or have a low price.
-The looks are sexy, very thin with a polished stainless steel back.
Cons
-The keyboard allows for fast typing once I got used to it, but there are many erros, especially web addresses and names.
-The User Interface is starting to look a little old. The pre-school building blocks look is about due for a refresh.

Overall, I think they are both teriffic devices. When shopping for a cell phone, my motto has always been to pick the best carrier for you, then pick a cell phone.

Re: getting tp2 today...thinking about iphone..whos have both?

Well most of the people i know have iPhones. The only reason why i feel that its a good phone is that Apple has planted its seeds in the right places. Nearly every company that makes anything that deals with electronics has has products with iPhone/iPod adapter (e.g. Cars, Exercise machines, home stereo systems). I hate seeing software out there that is available for both WM and the iPhone, only to see that the iPhone version is much better (Pandora).

So lets face the facts here, the iPhone is a good phone... it has a very large support base and jail broken community, but that's all it has for me. At&t has crappy service in majority of the areas that I've lived in and i refuse to pay the mandatory $30 data plan on its phone. I personally hate the iTunes software so anything that has to sync with it is out of the question for me.

I upgraded from the original TP a month ago to the TP2. The larger screen is awesome, and WM seems to run better on it even though it has the same specs. I prefer Qwerty over touch screen as well as expandable memory. I love that fact that it easily doubles over as a storage device when i misplace my thumb-drive. Sure there aren't as many as "free" playable games available on WM that look as good as the ones on the iPhone, but i could care less. I didn't buy a phone to play games on it anyhow. Streaming radio through GSPlayer and reading ebooks is great. If i ever get tired of the look and feel of the phone (which hasn't happened yet), there are plenty of Chefs out there with available roms to try out. I'm surprised people have gotten tired looking at the same 30+ icons on their iPhones.

I have never owned an iPhone/iPod, and seeing how some people are SO attached to it and how the media keeps throwing apple products in my face, i don't think i ever will. Though i am interested in seeing how well Android will perform on this device once a full port is out.

I have several people i work with that have switched from the iPhone and others that are switching to it. In then end it comes down to whatever makes you happy.

You're right.. an issue that APPLE addressed in an official update. Not something people had to hack and tweak to get working themselves. Winmo has an update feature built into it but how many times have any updates actually been issued?

I can agree with this. It's just annoying when people feel like they have to have some kind of allegiance to an OS just because its the phone that they have and refuse to admit that there are better options out there. I've pretty much always been pro winmo but IMO it just isnt the best option out there FOR ME anymore.. and obviously many others feel that way looking at how winmo sales have declined where others have gained.

You're not going to see me defending ANY phone that I know has flaws, im just realistic. Just like I still have my tp2 just because im on an advantage plan, when that supersonic drops I will be android/iphone all the way.

Re: getting tp2 today...thinking about iphone..whos have both?

Go ahead and get the iphone bro, I mean that is if AT&T and the monthly cost don't bother you.

I'm cheap and practical. I have a TP2 on Sprint because of what I get for my money.

Hands down though the best experience in terms of reliability (on the phone, not service), performance, and ease of use (they make the thing so easy to use it's impossible NOT to know how to use it when you first pick it up) the iphone wins.

I'm a geek though so I like the TP2.

My 2 cents.
