Remap certian keyboard buttons?
Is there a program that will allow me to remap a keyboard button to open up the screen to create a New SMS?

Yepper! That's the one. Then check out these threads for some ideas on how to use it and/or help:
Post your Keyboard Config Copy And Paste On Touch Pro 2 tarkim's Rhodium Keyboard Controller - Updated to version 1.4 or simply search "Rhodium Keyboard Controller".
