Re: Backlight turns Off When I make a phone call

Have you looked thru
HKCU/Control Panel/Backlight
You might find something in there.

Theres also some stuff you could check out in
HKCU/Control Panel/AllLEDMgr

Another good thought, and I actually have looked in there. Those keys seem to store the various settings you select in the Backlight section of Settings - how it behaves when on Battery Power, AC Power, etc. I actually had a previous problem where it was ignoring my settings, and kept turning down the backlight after 7 seconds, and had to change one of the keys in LockLevel to prevent this.

I can't directly identify any of the other settings relating to proximity sensor function for the phone.

I haven't looked at the other you reference, so will take a peak and see if anything there might be relevant.

Re: Backlight turns Off When I make a phone call

I came across this:

HKLM\Software\HTC\Proximity\ which has 3 entries:

ProximityDetectStatus
ProximitySensorOn
UnexpectedWakeup

My registry shows a value of "0" for all of these. For those of you for whom this is working correctly, what values do you have for these entries?

Thanks!

Re: Backlight turns Off When I make a phone call

Update:

I received a Refurb replacement TP2 yesterday (the one it was replacing had its screen alignment fluctuate spontaneously and anywhere between 3-8mm!), and I had time this morning to activate it, and restored it from last night's SPB Backup.

Interestingly, the Proximity Sensor now behaves properly!! Since all the software should be identical to what I had on the prior device this would imply that it was a Hardware defect, which I really wondered about.

So somehow or other, the display on that device was messed up in multiple ways, affecting both screen alignment and the proximity sensor behavior.

Hopefully this new one will be more reliable.

(I did an SPB Backup of the new refurb device prior to the restore, so I can access all the original file and Registry settings present after a hard reset, which could come in handy trouble-shooting questions down the road.)
